Since there are lots of threads going on about the bottom part of the roster, I thought I'd start one about the top part.

So, who are the most important players on the roster, the ones that if they are lost, the team is in deep doo-doo.

Here's mine:

10. Tauscher.
9. Finley
8. Jennings/Driver.
7. T. Williams
6. Sitton.
5. Jenkins.
4. Pickett
3. Collins.
2. Woodson.
1. Rodgers.

I'd have Finley higher, and swap matthews for sitton, mainly because our pressure up front has been a ? for a while, and imagine what our sack situation/QB pressures would have been like w/o Clay last year.

10. Jermichael Finley
9. Nick Barnett
8. Greg Jennings
7. Josh Sitton (Low positional value, but one of our best players)
6. Ryan Pickett
5. Clay Matthews (We need an OLB who can get some sort of pressure, so with lack of a better one)
4. Chad Clifton
3. Cullen Jenkins
2. Charles Woodson
1. Aaron Rodgers

I might very well have forgotten someone.

Btw, I like Ryan Grant, but except the elite ones, RBs are a dime a dozen, so positional value keeps him out.

I see u guys put pickett there in your list If he gets hurt we got some depth still if harrell stays healthy and we got neal and wilson who can contribute.

But he's the only proven guy we have at the most important position in the 3-4, the NT. He's also a starting DE and our primary back-up at NT. That's a pretty important player.

Wow, no Clay Matthews. Did you leave him off the list on purpose? And Josh Sitton is more important than Greg Jennings? Oh well, here's my own list:

9. Pickett
10. Grant

Rodgers, Woodson, Mathews, Collins, Finley. Those are the crucial guys. Although we do have depth at TE now, so losing Finley wouldn't be a total disaster.

I'm a line guy. What can I say? That's probably the reason I left Matthews off.

The reason I put Jennings down the list farther than Sitton was that we have a lot of receiving threats. (I actually almost left Jennings/Driver off the list entirely). We don't have a lot of interior linemen that I'm comfortable with. And if we have a hole in the middle of the line, we risk a hole at #1 on the list.

Clifton and Tauscher HAVE to be on that list. You lose them, you lose Rodger's main protectors. That spells DOOM in my view.
Rodgers
Woodson
Jennings
Driver
Finley
Collins
Matthews
Favre

I really can't see leaving Matthews off the list, because he's our only big-time pass rusher. I don't agree with you on Sitton/Jennings, either, but I see where you're coming from on that one.

It was kind of a hard list to put together because players make the list for two different reasons: because they are playmakers (Matthews, Jennings, Finley) or because their backups are clearly not ready to start (T. Williams, Collins). Obviously I put more value on playmakers than you do. Jennings, for example, really stretches the field for our offense. He's had more receptions of 40 yards plus than anyone else in the league during the last three years.
