* OL Bryan Bulaga dropped out of practice with a right hip flexor injury that coach Mike McCarthy said has been bothering him off and on for a little bit. There was no further update on the severity.
* DE Cullen Jenkins also dropped out, with a left calf strain. "When I was running I felt it pop a little bit. Probably nothing too serious but it just felt like enough to where I couldn't get any power, any strength to push off on it," he said.
* The Jenkins injury bears watching. Anytime a DL gets a lower leg injury, it can really affect their ability to play with power. Last year was one of the first for Jenkins when he didn't have a nagging ankle/knee injury.
* LB A.J. Hawk (ankle) played on the scout team as a trial run to test the ankle.
* RB Kregg Lumpkin did his running test and hopes to practice on Tuesday.
* Both RB Quinn Porter (ankle) and LB Brad Jones (shoulder) are day-to-day and could return this week.
* OL Allen Barbre sat out the entire practice. No one asked why.
* There's a chance we could be seeing the beginning of the end for Jarrett Bush in Green Bay. He was taken off some special teams, as was Donald Lee, in favor of CB Sam Shields and TE Tom Crabtree. "Sams earned it," McCarthy said. "Sams definitely getting some time with the 1s. We do want to get closer to what we feel are going to be the the guys who were going to be playing with. There is some projection, and you want to get some more information on particularly your newer guys, Tom Crabtree like you stated, and Sam Shields. Once again, its kind of the same answer to a different question. Its all part of these preseason games."
* Brandon Chillar played next to Nick Barnett in the nickel in part to give Frank Zombo more reps on the outside. "He brings the physicality that youre looking for as an outside linebacker," McCarthy said. "Everything we start with is speed to power on the rush and how you want to play the runs and so forth. I think hes done a very good job with that. High-effort player. Tough kid. Play through injuries. Hes had a nice camp so far. Hes earned every rep that hes been given and we want to increase his opportunities and see what he can do."
* McCarthy said the actions by S Derrick Martin that led to his ejection vs. Seahawks were "inappropriate." Martin said he did nothing wrong. "I feel like I played inside the rules of the game and if I get fined, we will appeal it," he said.

Anyone ever figure out what exactly Martin did?

Oh and this: "OL Allen Barbre sat out the entire practice. No one asked why" was friggin hilarious. I laughed out loud and I'm at a waiting room in a Honda dealership.

Bulaga right hip flexor. Jenkins left calf injury.

Somehow these are related? Repetitive motion injury type thing?

HELL YES to "the end of the Jarrett Bush era in Green Bay." I like him as a person, but I can't stand the way he plays on the field.

The only thing that bothered me was this: Crabtree over Donald Lee? I hope Crabtree doesn't take his roster spot....I know that he is our best blocking TE right now, but D. Lee has been nothing but a true professional for us. And, he's a great check down TE for Rodgers.

I haven't seen what Crabtree can do in the receiving department.

I've heard they might keep 4 tight ends and try to stash Quarless on the Practice Squad.

No way Quarless gets to the PS. Another team with claim him. He's not NFL ready (nether was Finley his rookie year) but the kid has so much potential (just like Finley). Now saying he's the next Finley but with his potential I think it would be a very bad idea to cut him as a rookie. I think they should go with 5 TEs or cut Havner or cut Crabtree. 5 TEs would be hard to do but not impossible.

Lee could very well be traded for an OLB.

Lee had the highest drop percentage of all NFL TEs with 30+ attempts. That may be a factor in Rodgers targeting Fin as much as Fins performance. Leaving blocking the only reason to keep him. If Crabtree is a great blocking TE, there goes the reason to keep him. Quarless is also a good blocker and Fin has put a lot of work into improving his blocking.

I like Lee, but he is 30 and his potential has pretty much been reached. I wouldn't expect much improvement out of him. The other 4 all have the chance to become impact players.

I could see him being traded.

Yeah but Lee is also the second most NFL ready and 2nd most well rounded to only Finley and I don't think I've seen too many drops for Lee this preseason. have others?

Lee is probably the 2nd best as of right now. But like you said the other could still grow and become better Lee is mostly over with the growing and becoming better. Then again Havner isn't overly young ether.

I'd like to see them keep Lee. It'd be nice to have a veteran at TE to keep Finley's head from getting too big.
