I agree team is the most important factor. But as individually important cogs in the team QB is way more important than any other position.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

Well, I can't write that I've ever been a huge Ted Thompson fan, I gotta admit though the team looks pretty strong.

Offensively, I think we have three 1000 yrd receivers in Jennings,Driver, and Finnley, and I think all three will achieve this goal.

With Tauch and Clifton in camp, and the rookies on the O line, Im hoping Rodgers isn't running for his life the first 8 games of the season.

When I read about Sam Shields, Mike Neal, Morgan Burnett, I am hoping these guys all can make a solid contribution to the defensive scheme this year.

Still not sure where a pass rush is gonna come from beside clay, but i am pulling for jones to play @ a high level.

I wonder if GB couldn't trade bishop for an OLB that can pressure the qb.

bottom line, once the emotion of losing Favre has worn off, 'ol Ted Thompson has put together a pretty solid squad

I agree with your assessment, especially the part about the pass rush. We need to manufacture more consistent pressure or our defense is going to struggle. I have been proved wrong more then a few times when it comes to depending on players to develop, such as Brad Jones, but I remain skeptical.

Hopefully Capers can manufacture pressure from the scheme itself and produce pressure from every angle of this defense, as opposed to relying on just a couple of players.

Get back to practice, Jones!! We need ya!

Nice little read RP and I wouldn't expect anything different from you. You have always been a Ted Thompson backer, but I am still a basher as my avatar shows. I still don't think he can give us the guy to put us over the top.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Went to camp Monday and saw Ted ride up on his bike to watch the practice. Thought to myself, I'm glad we have Mr. Thompson as our GM. I really like his approach and he's building a team that will compete for years to come.

Dodd - Why single out Brad Jones? I think he's been one hell of a steal, especially finding him that late in the draft. If anything, it goes to show Ted Thompson knows how to draft.

Dhazer - We were an elite O last year and a good D last year that got lit up by a Hall of Fame QB in the Playoffs. Second year in this defensive scheme, I think there's a good chance the D can climb into elite status.

If so, we got as good as a shot as anyone to win the big one.

Not even counting this year, I think Ted's definitely top 10 when it comes to NFL GM's. Look what he did with the salary cap hell. Look how good we have become in 5 years. 2008 was a fluke and '09 proved that. 14-4, 6-10, 11-6 for the past 3 years.

Underrated, maybe. Best? LOL

Even though he's a cheater, Belichick probably has TT.

Then there's the Rooneys.

And the AFC version of TT, A.J. Smith.

I'm not sure what you mean by singling him out. I just know he's having some kind of back issue and I'm just routing for him to get back to work so that he can continue to improve. Of course he was a steal. I'm glad we have him. However, I still want to see production because I think he is going to be an important piece of our defense this year.

Without him, I don't have much pass rush confidence in the players behind him.

For all the bitching that goes on here, people on this site seem to consistently forget that this team is only two years removed from an NFC Championship appearance and a turnover away from making it to the second round last year.
