The Panther's might be willing to offer a us a decent pick for Bishop.

If it was a good enough pick, I don't see how Ted could turn it down.

Why dump a young up and coming player in place of a player that lacks the physical nature inside.. actually two of them at times.

I like a ton of the things Hawk and Barnett do upon the field.. but especially Barnett is more of a rope a dope player than a stick your nose in there and intimidate the opposition that Bishop could bring if given the opportunity.. not to mention that dealing a borderline Pro Bowler should bring more back in return.

I'm not saying I want to get rid of him at all. Definitely don't assume that. But if he has another season like last year (ST's player) and then leaves via free agency under a new CBA, then yes, I would like to get something in return.

I would much rather get a 3rd or higher for a 6th round draft pick than nothing at all.

Either that or find some way to get the guy on the field.

IMO he is our 2 or 3rd best LB behind matthews and barnett - IMO bishop is better at rushing and run stoppage then barnett.

If your only talking about making plays I might agree (might put Jones ahead of as well). But if you also count all the mistakes he makes then he's right where he should be as the 4th ILB.

He makes a ton of plays but also gives a ton of plays up to the offense...

Got to count the plays and the mistakes...

I would like it if Bishop become a starter. That would mean he fixed his technique and out of position problems. I think the only thing holding him back is himself. He has the talent but it takes more than that. He has the preseason to show if he can do it or not.

He also sounds like a really good guy and is easy to cheer for.

But if he isn't the best guy out there, he shouldn't start. I don't even think he should start if he is just as good. He would have to be an improvement to be worth making a change.

There are a lot of really good guys on this board. That doesn't mean I'm rooting for any of them to get roster spots on my team. šŸ˜›

If he wants the spot he'll have to earn it by cutting out the mistakes. This coaching staff seems to put a high value on being assignment sure. They feel it is more important to be where you should be every play, rather than take someone's head of and then make a mistake 6 plays later.

IMO sometimes I think they go a little overboard on this and in the case of Hawk I believe it has hurt his play. He was a much more agressive and effective LB in college playing this way. Maybe it doesn't transpose to the NFL, but I was glad to read an article that they're going to try to get him to be more aggressive this year.

I think I read an article about that and Poppinga... basically he said in the old system the Packers ran you had to forgot the attacking and aggressive stuff because they were learning something totally new in the old system. And know that their back in an attacking defense he's trying to remember and relearn things from he's college days as a 4-3 DE (he played LB his Sr. year)

I'm guessing it was about the same way for Hawk.. going from an attacking and aggressive LB spot to a reacting LB spot...

And Barnett doesn't take aggressive angles all the time ether...

I'm hoping that years from now we can compare Bishops career to the likes of a James Harrison, who had a similar start to his career as Bishop is having. Wait for your time and then show everybody that the hard work and tenacity pays off. Bishop is proving himself to be a true professional, and his time will come.

wpr (23-Jul) : I thought so Mucky. In those useless player polls GB always rates high overall. Locker is a part of it.
