Maybe we could trade Colledge to them and also maybe a 2nd round draft pick?

Or maybe they'll just go for the draft pick.

How about we offer the following:

1. A third round pick. OR
2. Spitz and a second round pick. OR
3. Colledge, Spitz, and a first round pick.

I say absolutely not to number 3, that would be a rip off IMO, especially just for a guard.

You very rarely see guards taken in the 1st round, so I think we could go with a 2nd. However, it would be interesting to see if the Patriots would go for that 3rd.

Sorry. I was trying to make a joke about what I think of Colledge and Spitz's "trade value." (i.e., we'd have to pay more to get someone to take them.)

When the Packers 2005 1st round pick came up I wanted OG Logan Mankins... but I'm glad they went with Rodgers. (and I thought QB Smith and QB Rodgers would bust I'm glad I was wrong about Rodgers.)

But rumors have been that Mankins hasn't been happy with the Patriots for years... some rumors have been that he hasn't been happy with his coaches.

I like Colledge and I think he has been one of the better OG in the NFL last two years (though he had a bad first 8 games last year but the other 24 in the last two years he's done a good job.)

I doubt their would be a deal both sides could agree to but if we're going to try to trade then maybe Colledge, Bigby, Jolly, Bush, Ford or Clark (not both) and Barbre or Giacomini (not both)

But if they were going to trade him I'm sure they could get a high draft pick and maybe better players... probably couldn't trade Jolly right now....

Pay your guard(s) $7 mil a year....what do you have to pay your tackles? No thanks! For him to refuse $7 mil a year, regardless of how it was structured (unless the guaranteed was WAY off base), tells me a lot about Logan Mankins.

It tells you nothing about Logan Mankins. Perhaps there is no amount of money that would keep him with the Pats, but he'd gladly play for another team. We don't know squat about WHY he refused it, just that he refused it.

New England values second rounders. You could probably get him for a 2nd straight up. The question is the type of contract he wants.

I think the best course of action for the Packers is to kick Lang inside to left guard. That would give the Pack two young guards going into this next decade.

The middle of our OL isn't a problem. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

This guy would cost too much.

I disagree that it's not a problem. However, the Packers have the pieces in place. I think bigger lines (Minnesota) will be tough for the Pack to go up against. Green Bay needs power and bulk up front. I also wish they were a little more nasty too.

Scott Wells is a nice player, but not irreplaceable. I give Jason Spitz a chance to beat him out. I like the things Colledge has said since arriving to OTAs, but I give T.J. Lang a chance to beat him out. I think they both would.

A lineup of Clifton/Lang/Spitz/Sitton/Tauscher is nasty. You could have Bulaga be your swing backup tackle and Wells your veteran backup center despite the hefty price tag. I'm sure both would get playing time eventually over the course of the season.
