This trade takes the Redskins out of the race for Clausen. Just like the Seahawks etc. got out of it before by trading for a QB. This is getting pretty scary if you look at the Vikings and their future at QB....

The teams with pick 1 to 6 don't need a QB. Holmgren "wished he liked Clausen more". Al Davis has gone mad some time ago and I'm still putting my money on him going with JaMarcus and drafting a physical freak. The Bills, reportedly, would like to see what their QBs could do when they can stand in the pocket for more than 2 seconds. I think that the Jags still like Garrard and that they would like to see what he can do if he actually has a weapon.

Of course, the Browns and Bills could just be putting up some screens.

Then you have the 49ers at 13 and 17, but no other team between 10 and 26 needs a QB. He could be falling far. And the Vikings could be in prime position to trade up into the early 20s if he does make it past the 49ers.

It happened to Rodgers and Quinn pretty recently. You never know.

There are lot of teams that could take Clausen:
- Browns (Jake Delhomme, Seneca Wallace) Already paid Delhomme 7 million so doubtful
- Bills (Trent Edwards, Ryan Fitzpatrick) who have a new regime
- Jaguars (David Garrard), but I think they might have bigger needs
- Broncos (Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn) Seriously, who's sold on Orton taking them to the playoffs?

I think that the Bills take him. You need a franchise QB to consistently win in this league. If the Bills finally decide to fix that offensive line, I think the Broncos is the furthest he could fall.

I think this trade, within the division speaks on several fronts..

1. They happen to agree with my long term belief.. the McNabb lacks "it" to take a team over the top. Much like Cutler, Jay is on a whole different plain of weak to a greater degree, that they lack the poise and presence to become a great QB that excels when the pressure is the greatest.

2. That the Eagles, don't feel their is a significant difference between Kolb and McNabb at this point.. McNabb contract this year was over what 11 million.. Kolb might cost the 2. Plus they have to find out what they have in Kolb.. he is going into his final year.

3. The Eagles truly don't fear McNabb.. which might bit them if he leads the Skins over the Eagles this season.

4. Reid has a set of brass ones... this is a career defining moment.. lets see how it plays out.

5. This talk of being the right place for McNabb is nonsense from the Eagles standpoint.. they tried to maximize the return for him. All about the business..

* edit... now reading NS article post.. I could have saved my opinion.. lol.

I don't think this hurts the Vikings at all. If Favre retires, they are screwed over for a year I guess but if Favre comes back (which is likely), they can just sign McNabb next year without giving up a draft pick. Plus they get to see if McNabb can play this year.

I think they actually come out in the best case scenerio. If McNabb stinks, they don't sign him next year, if he does great and wants to leave, they sign him without giving up anything.

This effects the Vikings?

I don't think it does and RedSox, you sound like a Vikings fan with your comment. In the respect you have it all planned out for them. I say, who cares? hah

This still surprises me. The Eagles front office must be very high on Kolb.

Fix'd

I don't think the Eagles have any chance of going to the playoffs. Their Linebackers and Safeties are terrible, Trent Cole is their only pass rusher, their OL still sucks, and Kevin Kolb could easily be a huge dissapointment.

This trade has direct ramifications for the Pack. There was a decent chance that the skins would take Clausen, even though I thought that was a bad move- they still need o-line help, BAD---

No way they don't take one of the 6 OT's. Of course it will be Okung.

I said that well over a month ago, but with the trade, now I'm gonna be right.

..Then you got the "boys releasing Flozell... look for them to try and trade into a situation to get one of the 6....

I'm coloring them gone at 23.

Okung, Bulaga, Williams, Campbell, Davis and Brown.

I would not reach for anyone on the board for OT at 23. Those are all "non- reaches", but sadly, gone, imo.
