AK won't goto Chicago because he owes it to us fans not to sign with a rival. Thats just wrong he better not become a traitor. I sure hope Peppers don't end up there either.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

As a professional football player, Kampman should go wherever will advance his professional career the most. If that's Chicago, so be it. Best of luck to him.

Situation is a little different with Kampman and you know who.

I thought we would be franchising AK and using him as trade bait but it seems we are going to just let him hit the FA and get no value for him.

As one of the JSO article states, Kampman was one of the Favre-can-go-where-he-wants supporters. So don't expect much team loyalty, if it is a distinct possibility.

The only way Kampman stays a Packer is if 4-3 teams are scared off by the injury.

Otherwise, I think we Packer fans are engaging in wishful thinking.

Because I find it hard to imagine Ted Thompson paying 4-3 DE money to a 3-4 linebacker with questions.

GB will offer a one year deal with incentives and probably a guarantee that they won't franchise him next year.

That's my guess.

Not at all. I think Kampman is going to get a big offer from someone other than GB. And I don't think Ted Thompson is going to be in the ballpark.

Now I might be underestimating what Ted is willing to pay because I think *he's* going to look at Kampman as having questions.

I think a lot of Packer fans are hoping that the "injury question" will keep Kampman's numbers down far enough for the Packers to be able to keep him. But I think they're dreaming. Kampman's going to get someone willing to pay top 4-3 DE bucks on a multiyear deal.

If the Packers only offer a one year deal, he'll be gone.
If the Packers only offer an incentives-laden deal, he'll be gone.
If the Packers expect any significant "home team discount," he'll be gone.
If the Packers don't offer him a deal that pays him top 4-3 DE bucks, he'll be gone.

Kampman's too smart to do otherwise.

dfosterf (18-Aug) : We do have good depth at running back imo. Still so frustrating. Bitching about it is a futile excercise, which I plan to do anyway.

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
