Aaron Kampman has proven to be everything the Jaguars hoped for when they signed him from Green Bay, which is why the team has to be worried after he was injured at Thursdays practice.

Kampman underwent an MRI Thursday night with what might be a serious injury, according to Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union. Kampman was coming off a torn ACL last season; its unclear if this injury was to the same knee.

Defensive tackle Tyson Alualu also hurt his knee at practice Wednesday and sat out Thursdays session, although that injury doesnt sound as gloomy as Kampmans problem. The Jaguars have been rather healthy on the whole this year.

Quite frankly, Im very happy we havent had super-significant injuries for the most part, Kampman said during the bye week. We lost [right tackle] Eben Britton, but I dont think weve lost any other starter. Thats a big part of it. If we can keep ourselves healthy, I think that will help.

Kampman was doing very good, consdering he was drawing some double teams, and the fact that pass rushers on the other side of their line combined for a whopping 1.5 sacks so far this season.

Season over for Kampman

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/

In only eight games, Aaron Kampman had transformed himself into the leader of the Jaguars defense, not to mention their best defensive lineman.

Jacksonville will have to move on without him after learning that Kampman suffered a torn ACL at practice Thursday, ending his season. Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio announced the move at his Friday press conference. Kampmans career in Green Bay ended with a torn ACL to his other knee, and he made a quick recovery to play well for the seasons first eight games.

Its a crushing blow for the beleaguered Jaguars defense. They have struggled to consistently pressure the passer, and will now have to turn back to recently benched former first-round pick Derrick Harvey. Kampman also represents a huge investment by the organization, which had been paying off. He received a $10 million signing bonus on a four-year deal.

In a deep AFC playoff picture, both the Jaguars and Texans cant afford to fall to 4-5 on Sunday. We seriously doubt Jacksonville can make a second half run because of their tough schedule, and this news will only make their task tougher.

He's getting to that age. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

And now you know why I was so happy the Packers didn't bring him back.

Does anyone seriously think Al Harris' knee is going to hold up this season?

But Kampman tore his other ACL. So, his rehabbed knee held up. Just another freak accident.

You do realize that a good percentage of the NFL players have torn an ACL right?

I was for letting Kampman walk.. or more specifically trading him before the deadline last season, because he was a poor fit for the defense we deploy.

You can't call it a 3-4 defense either.. it is wild the number of alignments Dom trots upon the field.. and Kampman probably wouldn't have a spot here today either.. he just didn't have the same body angle/torque rushing the passer from the 2pt verses the 3pt.

I didn't realize it was his other knee. I stand corrected.

beast (23h) : Yeah, but is Kampman and the others in the NFL Hall of Fame?
Zero2Cool (23h) : Johnson was Hall of Fame, 2020. Should haev been in Ring a year later, not three years.
Zero2Cool (23h) : I could be wrong there though
Zero2Cool (23h) : Guys like Kampman, Tim Harris, Al Harris, etc all over 15 years. Hall of Fame is 5 year wait
Zero2Cool (23h) : I guess I see players in Packers Hall come way later
beast (23h) : Yeah, usually teams hall of fames are a much lower bar than the NFL
Zero2Cool (23h) : is it uncommon for Hall before Ring?
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : S Xavier McKinney named first-team All-Pro by NFLPA
beast (8-Jan) : I missed it, sorry, but he got into the NFL Hall of Fame years before that
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : Jones took his sweet ole time!
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : Yeah, he's in the ring of honor, just saw video and his name is up there
Zero2Cool (8-Jan) : Didn't they have a thing in 2023 for Jimmy's ring of honor? I swear I saw it
beast (8-Jan) : Though if they're legitimately trying to re-sign MM, then it makes sense.
beast (8-Jan) : Jerry Jones still hasn't put Jimmy Johnson in the Ring of Honor, but he's in the NFL's Hall of Fame, Jones is petty
Mucky Tundra (8-Jan) : Unless the Cowboys are planning an extension, seems kinda petty
beast (8-Jan) : Cowboys denied Bears request
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : From what I'm reading, MM is under contract through the 14th of January; after that he's free game

Martha Careful (6-Jan) : watching the Vikings and Lions it's understandable why they swept the Packers. So much better product
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Even when GB got pressure he was throwing darts; vs no pressure on that last pass he just air mails an open guy

Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Where was this Darnold vs GB?
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : BALL DON'T LIE
