It's facile to blame the politicians. WE elect the politicians. They represent US. If Americans would stop voting for the lesser of two evils, grow some balls, and give alternative choices a chance -- instead of dismissing and marginalizing them -- we would have a more representative government. Until Americans stop brainlessly vacillating between the Republican and Democratic Parties, I will have no sympathy for their mindless imprecations against the regime du jour.

I call bullshit. It takes money to elect the president, and with it all the corruption. Swinging dicks like the common thinking men in this forum would never have a chance to get on the ballot yet alone win the presidency.

China could bring this country to its knees without a single bullet fired, or drop of blood spilled....just call in our crippling debt.

Thanks, Washington...and all you Ivy League fucks running the show...and this country into the ground.

I wish for a lot more state college representation in Washington...you know, people that have actually done something other than being born into priveledge and directed career paths regardless of lack of capacity....and who have an ounce of common sense.

How about we start electing extremely intelligent people, instead of buffoons who we think it would be fun to have a beer with in a bar. We need a little less "common sense" thinking and a little more powerhouse brains running the show. "Ivy League" or not, I don't care. Just give me smart people.

We elect politicians from a very select group of individuals...and that is my point.

It is virtually impossible for the "unconnected" every day person with great ideas to reach those lofty heights....it takes a firtune that most people do not have to run for office these days. Don't cite Obama as an example...he was hand-picked and backed by huge money from the get-go

Scott Brown is a recent example that it can be done, but he is truly an anomoly. Perhaps, finally, the American people are waking up the the poison that both parties have been feeding us. for decades I am not necessarily for endless parties such as happens in Italy, but would like to see our two traditional parties brought back to mainstream with candidates who actually listen to the people who elected them.

It takes a lot of money, work, and connections, yeah. One problem I have with our system of government is that it rewards those who ambitiously seek power with power.

Besides, I thought I made it obvious I was advocating alternatives to the Democratic and Republican parties. It is very easy for men such as you to describe to get on the ballots of alternative parties, but everyone simply laughs at them and ridicules them for having no chance.

It is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

This isn't the little engine that could, it's reality. The common man is to be in this world and not of it. If you honestly think the average man could sign up and just run for office and win without all the backing of the party's candidates, than maybe it's time to end your deep thinking in college and join the taxpayers for a sixty hour work week. Good lord Non, I respect you immensely but come on! It reminds of a Dumb and Dumber line.

Lloyd, more like one in a million.

So your saying there's a chance.

Worry warts. Just be an ...

ostrich.

If everyone was an ostrich, no one would want to be a politician, because the number one problem would be methane. And who the heck wants to appear on Larry King and talk about ostrich farts?
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
