In light of Zero's post, I thought I'd bring this back up. Oh the ups and downs. It really is true, we should all cherish this moment right here. Where the football gods smiled on us and all the bounces seem to being going our way the last two weeks. We're a team of destiny!

I just read my thoughts and I guess those lows make these highs even better. I am walking on a cloud today. Even though I feel sick from the amount I drank last night.

Guys, it's the up and downs that make sports so awesome. It will feel that much better when we come back and take the league by storm in the near future.

Emotional roller coasters make you feel alive. This game was a perfect example of that, no matter how it ended.

I just love football in general and Packer football in particular.

I don't enjoy it for the win. It is much better when we win, but I would still watch if we didn't have a chance.

I have said before, I would stay in the stands until the last snap of a an 0-16 season when we are getting blown out. To me, that is a fan. Not a person who only cheers when they win and turns off the game when they lose.

If you can't stand it when they lose, you are a fan of winning. Not a fan of the team.

To it is like the difference between honor and pride.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

I watch football precisely because it's an emotional rollercoaster. I know a lot of people on this site get annoyed with me because of the way bad games make me so angry, but that's exactly what I love about it. As my wife has pointed out to me before, football is one of the very few things that can arouse such passion in me -- drive me to fits of rage one moment, propel me to heights of ecstasy the next. I mean, I enjoy watching baseball, basketball, and even soccer now and then, but it's not much more than a passing interest. I don't get emotionally involved with them the way I do with football. To me, football is like a physical, violent chess match, and I find it endlessly fascinating, even when I have no particular attachment to either of the teams involved.

The defeats earlier this year were draining, but those lows have made the triumph of this weekend all the sweeter.

I'm looking forward to sharing next weekend with you guys, in all my annoying quirkiness. 😉

It does seem crazy that our sense of wellbeing in life is in part dependant on something we have absolutely no control over. If some football players in green do their jobs well we're over the moon, if they have a bad day and lose we feel miserable.

The NFL is particularly hard because of the win or bust mentality. There is only one trophy and fans of 31 teams end up failing to win it every year. The odds of seeing just one superbowl win are remote and the odds of finishing in defeat extremely high. Every year.

And the worst thing about it is the closer you get to the championship the worse the fall when you lose. If you thought the Giants loss hurt just imagine what it will feel like if we get beat by the Bears on Sunday. With a Packer team talented enough to win the superbowl. You will be in agony.

That is why there is some comfort in supporting a crappy team. Fans of crap teams never have to deal with the crushing playoff losses, the moments when they are fingertips away from the superbowl. And they have the long offseason to look forward to high draft picks and low expectations.

For the players and coaches this week, they can affect the outcome, they can train and plan. And if they lose they get paid millions of dollars and are off work for months. Fans have no control and when their dreams are shattered have to get up and go to work the next day.

I read for almost the entire first page before I realized that this originated last year haha....Even when we were 4-12 in '05 and 6-10 in '08, I watched every game. It hurt every game, but the feeling of belonging to (yes I'm going to say it) something bigger than myself... It's incredible. Coming on here and talking about the Packers makes me love them all the more because it is a type of togetherness that I have not experienced before. Also, the thrill of not knowing what is going to happen. The possibility of each and every game being one that can be won or lost in the last quarter. With the pain, there is also elation. We are lucky that we have chosen a team that brings us up more often than tearing us down.

beast (9h) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (9h) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (19h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (19h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (21h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22h) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (23h) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (23h) : Thank you
wpr (23h) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (23h) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (23h) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (23h) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (23h) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
