Simply put, we will never see the America that we had before this Ivy league hack and his team of radicals took office.

Republicans and Democrats...Coke and Pepsi. Doesn't really matter does it? Just a brand name. Both no longer represent the people of this country, but I find the Democrats, and more specifically, their motives, to be incredibly dangerous.

Let's see....the Dems have owned national education for 40 years. Has education gotten better or worse under their watch?

Welfare rolls and services provided (some of them absolutely necessary, but if we are honest, much of it abused by scammers and parasites) have expanded under Democratic rule. Have the societal problems of povery gotten better or worse under their watch?

Trial lawyers are second only to the teachers union in terms of their contributions and militant allegiance to the Democrats. Has the problem of frivolous suits, and the systemic evisceration of our constitution at the hands of laywers made this a better or worse country?

Keep them ignorant, addicted to state/fed handouts, and line up the lawyers to make it all happen....and you have the making of a structural Democratic voting block. Democrats have enslaved generations of the poor without guns or chains....with the check.

Their motives are the most simple and sinister of all...power, no matter the cost.

Oh...by the way...profits for major insurance companies were recently reported to be approximately 8%. Not exactly the "gouging" one might expect given the hyperebole coming out of this administration.

Ohhhh Digs.
You got a BIG +1 from me for that last comment.
You are SO right. I haven't had a politician i could back 100%, all my life. Though the Reps are closer to what i believe, they STILL are WAAAY off of how i want this country run. And it's true, the Dems have been spending like mad and thinking that throwing lots of money at problems will make them go away. In alot of areas, they lowered the accepted standards of schools to make more graduate. Then they would point and say "See? More kids are graduating! We are improving the schools!" (Same as the "If you get a one cent raise, it's a NEW JOB CREATED line of thinking) It's all B.S. to make it LOOK like they are doing a good job.

You said: "Keep them ignorant, addicted to state/fed handouts, and line up the lawyers to make it all happen....and you have the making of a structural Democratic voting block. Democrats have enslaved generations of the poor without guns or chains....with the check.

Oh man....that's some seriously well thought out stuff right there!!!
You summed up what i have been trying to put into words all along.

You're right. The Founders would have been stunned to know that the American public would come to expect insurance companies to foot the bill for every little complaint they had. Insurance was intended to cover catastrophic situations, and operates best in such a capacity, not function as an alternate payer for routine care.

Healthcare costs would plummet if more Americans paid out of pocket for care whenever possible. That's how I was raised, and that's how I intend to raise my family.

I will use me as an example.. I only go to the doctor when absolutely necessary.. personally I hate the bastards.

I could point to my artifical leg.. in which I can't buy parts because I am not licenses nor can become licensed.. so I am gouged by artifically high prices. Last year.. I had their part quotes and had either parts machined or bought the bushings and bearing individually.. $910 dollars through the clinic or 27.45 my way.. when my knee cylinder goes.. I will have no choice but to either stop walking or pay the 6500 dollars for the replacement.. that is my choices.. insurance pays none.. yet the healthcare system is being fairly priced right.

Onto my ankle.. after an MRI at the beginning the process should have been clear.. yet here I am 20 visits later because of their process.. if I wouldn't have changed doctors midstream I would still probably be in a series of appointments.. which I am forking out deductibles upon.. yet this is a quality level of service in which I have little to no choice in.. other than to live in pain.

They, the providers made sure that the appointments were spread out and consumed as much of my billable time as possible.. there is no fat there right? It is a joke..

If you don't need healthcare.. the choice should be easy and painless.. not everyone is so blessed. But since I am not blessed I should be fucked by the system and be happy about it right?

What a myopic statement for someone that doesn't have to seek health care or live in pain daily.

Digs - To me, the choice between Democrats and Republicans is like the choice of if you want me to kick you in the left nut or the right nut. Democrats want to ban these Freedoms, Republicans want to ban those Freedoms. Democrats want to raise the deficit to pay for this. Republicans want to raise the deficit to pay for that. Either way, you lose.

Nonstop - I agree. Like I was saying in my own example, pay out of pocket and a lot of doctors (and dentists by the way and especially chiropractors) will bend over backwards to work with you. ANYTHING to stay away from insurance companies.

Pack - It's all good. Reading back what I said, I did sound pretty cold. I really don't want to come across as some asshole who blames the victim and I probably could have worded it a lot better if I had more time to.

The thing I'm getting at is we do have choices in this country. I've gone to County. I've gone to private doctors. Pretty much anything to avoid the insurance companies.

Like Nonstop said, pretty much the only reason I have insurance is for something major. Using insurance for routine stuff will raise everyone's rates, including your own.

Shawn is right. You should have seen the hoops i have had to jump through to get my heart problem taken care of. See this doc, then that doc.......then "Oh...you didn't get a referal from your primary doctor? Then we (the insurance company) won't pay."
And the list of people who i got billing statements from........so many i can't count. And i have no clue who they are, or what they did. Thankfully my primary doc knows what crap the insurance company has tried with me, and has helped me out.
It's unreal. And like was already stated, they charge one rate if you are insured, another if you arn't. That tells you that they are over charging for ANYONE with insurance. It's no wonder insurance rates are so high.
But trust the government to "fix" it???? Have they done ANYTHING right??? ANYTHING that should give us peace of mind that they won't screw it all up?

To make sure my position is clear.. I have never wanted anything handed to me.. I earn every god damn thing I have. So I certainly don't want people to get hand outs.. and there is no doubt that we have abusers in this country that are killing the rest of us.

But when you are a middle class person, hold a job, pay taxes and insurance payments and have little choice but to bury yourself financially to seek health care something is wrong.

And the healthcare system itself holds a large share of the blame.. it needs to be addressed... along with the freeloaders that are abusing the system.

Reform.. not foot the bill.

I have fought my whole life to be responsible and pay my own way.. I could be legally disabled but can't stand the thought of putting my hand out and taking a free ride.. but I also can't keep up with spiraling medical cost that continue to chew up more and more of my income.. and I have little choice to not seek medical care.

Laws to regulate is one thing. Taking it over completely is quite another thing.
They don't just want to regulate, they want to OWN it. And if they do, we're screwed in my view.
Hey Shawn.......with today's messed up healthcare, you're lucky they didn't replace the ankle on your metal leg by accident!!!

Sigh.

What [strike]health care "reform" [/strike]the American political system needs is a combination of James Madison, Edward Abbey, and Lysander Spooner.

Fuck it.

Until further notice I'm voting "none of the above" unless someone makes a case that their "candidate X" is something more than "not candidate Y."

The bastards can only kill me once.
