Henry has "life-threatening" injuries after "domestic situation"

by Gregg Rosenthal

New information is rapidly coming out about Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry's serious car accident.

The Charlotte Observer reports that Henry is facing "life-threatening" injuries after falling out the back of a pickup truck in Charlotte Wednesday.

Police say Henry was involved in a "domestic situation" with his fiance. As Henry's fiance drove away from the home where the situation occurred, Henry jumped into the bed of the truck.

He fell out the back of the truck at some point after that and was found half a mile away.

We'll continue to update Henry's story as we learn more about his condition.

That is some serious stuff....

Breaking news at the top of www.cbssports.com

Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry has died as the result of a car accident in Charlotte, N.C., according to multiple web reports.

My condolences to his family and the Bengals players, who suffer another mental blow this season. What a sad way to end it all.

They may have been premature in their report he died. The headline is no longer at the top of their page.

There are indeed quite some conflicting reports out there. Hope he's ok. It's never going to be good in a situation like this, but at least he could pull through.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/12/16/chris-henry-is-on-life-support/

Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer has confirmed with the Bengals and Charlotte police that wide receiver Chris Henry is still alive following a serious car accident Wednesday.

Still, the news surrounding Henry is not good.

Alex Marvez of Fox has reported that Henry is on life support and the situation is being described as "dire."

A fake Twitter account led to multiple outlets from newspapers to major sports and news blogs to repeat the information that Henry passed away.

The fake account purported to be by a NFL reporter, but it clearly is a fake.

We previously passed along reports that Henry's injuries were "life-threatening" and came after a "domestic situation."

This is the opposite of the Tiger domestic fight.

Apparently there is some thought she swerving trying to get him out of the truck, when he was thrown from the back.

This could end up as a murder/manslaughter case.

I would imagine it would be pretty hard to fall out the side of one if someone was just driving the speed limit normally. I mean, dogs stay back there and they don't even have opposable thumbs to hold onto anything.

Wow. This hurts. Never been a fan of Henry, he's always been a distraction up until this year... And then he had an awesome preseason (followed by a lack luster year prior to his season ending injury). But still.. Prayers to his family, to him, and to my 2nd favorite NFL team. I hope they use this as motivation to 'win one for the gipper'.
