A little before my time, but I remember my Dad telling about Fuzzy. A Packer legend for sure.
Rest in Peace Fuzzy.

Former Packers Fuzzy Thurston Dies at 80
Former Packers guard Fuzzy Thurston, a member of the great Green Bay teams of the 1960s, has died. He was 80.

The team confirmed Sunday that Thurston died after several years of health issues.

Born Fred Thurston, he was best known for his blocking on the Packers' famed power sweep. He helped Green Bay win five NFL championships. He also won a title with Baltimore in 1958.

Despite weighing less than 250 pounds, Thurston was a powerful force for the Packers, playing in 112 games. He retired in 1967 and was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame in 1975.

Sad news.

Fuzzy was a Great Packer and even Greater Man.

He was one heck of a player. Loved his look out blocks explanation:

In the rare moments where his feet and strength failed him, he joked that he would use the "lookout block."

He had to use it in a game at Detroit in 1962 where the Packers were pulverized, 26-14, in their only loss that year.

The technique, according to what he told the Journal Sentinel, was that after his blocker beat him, he would yell, "Look out, Bart!"

One of my boyhood Packers heros that I had frozen in time.
So sad to find you gone Fuzzy.

I met him a couple of times, and always had a smile on his face. He was a really nice guy.
