The same gameplan is playing two much nickle coverage. Two Dline man rushing with 2 lbers. We needed to have the extra big body inside.

Last time the emphasis was on stopping Peterson.

Clearly the Nickel package was geared towards countering the Vikings pass offense.

Big Okie is different from the Nickle.

We didn't and do not win the majority of matchups due to a lack of talent not the gameplan, which is sometimes screwy as well.

"dd80forever" wrote:

I just don't understand the talent argument though. I think we have more then enough talent to have a top 10 + defense. Of course we have a few weak spots, but what D doesn't? Just look at Denver and the Saints. You can't tell me we don't at least have as much talent on D as those teams, if not more. Then how come they are having so much success and we are not? How about the Titans D this year? Surely Haynesworth wasn't responsible for their entire D collapsing this year?

It has to be coaching.

I don't think there is as much Talent as you think.

Woodson is the best player on this defense. After that Harris is overrated these days. Hawk, Barnett, Chillar and Poppinga are average. Kampman is out of position, though he did get to rush more with his hand down against the Vikes. Collins is overrated by Packer fans, Bigby flat out stinks. The D-Line is again average and there is NO DEPTH whatsoever.

Like Jennings, you overhype guys at times. Some good players but nothing that the 85 Bears are going to be threatened by.

The 85 Bears...

Our LBing group is very deep, but we don't have the Ray Lewis kind of guy out there. They're all good, but not great.

The D-line, however, has been great. Pickett was, once again, all over their O-line for most of the game. Jenkins is the best penetrating 3-4 DE I've seen in quite a while and Jolly has been playing lights out when he's not making stupid plays.

Harris might be somewhat overrated, but I'm still confident that he's one of the better corners in the league and could start for nearly any team. Just look at that play where both of our corners went man. I still don't know if he's the best fit for a zone defense, although he's been better than I expected so far.

And Collins was somewhat overrated after last year, but everyone has come down from that by now. I'm confident that Bigby is a good player when he's healthy. He's not the best in coverage, but I've still been impressed by how long he sticks with receivers, while actually being more of a LB-type safety. If anything, I'd call HIM underrated. Problem with him is health.

The Vikings are who we thought they were. Our offense didn't show up AT ALL for the entire first half. If they do, we win.
The defense did NOT lose this game. Favre got the ball at midfield about 10 times this game. This is due to the offense not showing up for the first two quarters.
The Packers offense looked like a Chinese fire drill. Again.

Did we watch the same game? If not for the first bad snap which cost Min 3 points and the crazy fumble by Robinson in the 2nd half which totally changed the momentum, two big time lucky plays. If not for these, it's a total blowout, even more than it was.

Don't forget the Packers first offensive play which, arguably, could have been a MN TD had not the refs had a quick whistle.

apparently it's a good thing that i was on the road for the first half, huh? walking in the door to the 3rd quarter, i'd have no idea wtf you guys were complaining about. having seen only the majority of the 2nd half, i actually felt pretty good about how we fared against what is quite clearly, a better team.

and then...i looked at the stats from the first half - UGH!!! it'd be nice if just freakin ONCE this team could play a COMPLETE game!! the only good (if you can call it that) i saw is that the team DID come together in the 2nd half & gave em a run for their money. other than that, it's more of the same. OL freakin SUCKS, stupid penalties, etc...
