OK Zero...you and porky are rational too šŸ™‚

But seriously...this team will be decent (and likely not much more) this year, but I like our future.

Grant has to go, that piece of $hit could fall over from his own fart, but luckily that's one of the easiest positions to replace via the draft.
Again, 1-2 tackles, maybe move Lang inside, and get back ups for 3 vets nearing the end of their career (woody, harris, driver) and we're fine for the next 5 years!

The foundation for a great team has been poured. Look at the talent - Rodgers, Jennings, Finley, Quinn Johnson, James Jones, Jordy...etc. But I'm now convinced that McCarthy and Thompson are not the ones that are going to be able to finish building the house.

Goofy metaphor, but that's how I feel. The same problems keep being repeated over and over and that's a coaching issue. The lack of talent along hte offensive line was evident, and that's on Thompson.

Hopefully, a veteran coach will see that the cupboard is far from bare, and will be happy to jump to Green Bay.

I think Ted can and will get the correct Olineman here, where the future coach asks for something different.

My question is does Ted have the balls to cut McCarthy lose?

I agree. I think Ted could find power o scheme type lineman. Rather, I hope he can.

And I think he can cut mm lose. Not right this minute. This off season I think it'll need to be done.

UNLESS. There's a drastic improvement. And I just don't see that happening.

I think Ted Thompson has the balls to cut Mike McCarthy loose. That's not my concern. My concern is can he bring in a coach that will inspire our better free agents to re-sign with the team? Players like Charles Woodson (yes, yes, I know he's under contract for a few more years) have stated in no uncertain terms that they want to win a Super Bowl. If they start to get the feeling that this administration won't get it done, will we start to see an exodus out of Green Bay? Are the continual irrational fuckups we see purely the result of poor coaching, or are they a form of rebellion, greasing the way under the head coach? If McCarthy really is starting to lose the team, as some speculate, Ted Thompson needs to take action before we lose the roster too.

Ted also needs the stones to change his philosophy. This idea of not using free agency, while a noble idea, doesn't work in today's NFL. When everyone else is doing something and you're not - you're losing in this "copy-cat" league.

I don't think anyone is going anywhere head coach or GM-wise.

I called it "whack-a-mole" last year.

The carnival game.

We had to fix the defense.

Personnel-wise, this past off-season...along with the scheme.

You can't have everything at once via the draft.

All the impact o-linemen were gone by the time we were in a position to draft one.

Fuckin' bustin' caused some of this, btw.

Thing is, if you KNOW you don't have the physical specimens to match up one on one, what do you do?

You "whack-a-mole" your strategies.

Ahman can block. He is awesome in the flat. Tausch HAS played TE (One of my ..perhaps whack, perhaps unorthodox, perhaps brilliant)"whack-a-mole" solutions.

You protect your quarterback. You dump off. You do a lot of things.

How 'bout the contrast between having Percy return kicks and Ahman.

Ahman ran right at the pile, almost looked like on purpose, like he was told to. That was great. Nice job Tramon.

Grant ---

I don't like Grant. Not in this scheme I don't. Jackson either.

If we get a more physical line that can make a hole, I'd revisit that.

State of the franchise is simple.. we are a solid ball club overall with one glaring issue away from being a true contender.

We will continue to be a tease and a pretender until we can address this offensive line.

We missed a prime opportunity last offseason in the house cleaning to pitch Campen and Fonteno.. one can go back to the 07 season and watch the interior line play and see communication and scheme flaws.. fast forward to his season.. same flaws. One can point only one direction on that.. coaching.

The administration of this team will rise in my estimation when a) Brandon Jackson is gone; b) Chad Clifton is gone; c) Mark Tauscher is gone; d) Atari Bigby is gone; e) suitable replacements for a) through d) have been brought in; and f) some high-quality talent is brought in to light a fire under Ryan Grant's ass. I'm not calling for Grant to be cut quite yet, but ever since his shenanigans of last year -- opportunistically exploiting the Favre fiasco -- I've wanted him on a tight leash, and I hope it's getting tighter.

Was Tauscher on the field yesterday? Hmmmm didn't think so.

Any way.. point E) is really the meat of your rant. Clifton and Mark have seen there better days, that much was clear a season ago, but this regime "failed" in getting suitable replacements in line for the last 5 years.

Ted properly talked about getting the next generation of QB in line years ago, but has failed in that same aspect along the offensive line.

Simply put.. it hasn't been addressed, and that is really my only beef with Ted. He has had ample time to have the next generation of tackles in place.. so either he or the coaching staff has failed in properly getting the situation corrected. I lean heavily on coaching along the offensive line.

And little of that blame can fall upon Mark or Chad.
