Maybe Green being ahead of Jackson was just something they did in practice for a day. I would be surprised if Green has already shaken off enough rust to pass up Jackson in the rotation. I've thought for awhile now that Jackson should get more carries, because he might still turn out to be pretty good.

It's clear what the intention is - Green is going to split snaps with Grant as an RB.

This suggests that Jackson is still going to be the 3rd down back in blocking and maybe still as a pass catcher in the flats.

I think some are forgetting how good Clifton did against Allen last year at Lambeau (I think it was the game in Green Bay). I want to see Lang out there too, but I think Clifton would be good against Allen.

I don't know. I still say start out with Lang, and if he isn't doing well throw in Clifton.

Can't wait for the game!

I'm not forgetting how well Clifton did against Allen last year, but I'm also not forgetting how poorly Clifton did against him this year. He wasn't healthy after two weeks last game, and I don't expect him to be healthy this week either. He's falling apart. He didn't get the job done last time at all, and I think the Packers are WAY better off with a healthy TJ Lang than a banged up Chad Clifton.

I'm afraid Clifton's skills are falling off a cliff the way KGB's did last year.

they have fallen. past tense. his body is broken, and consequently he can't get the job done anymore. So, do the coaches keep getting him starts because they feel like he has earned as much over the course of his career, or do they cut him off now before he can do any more damage? Keep the kid in there.

Boy oh boy it would be sweet to see Green break off a long run against the Vikings again.

Looks like my guess was wrong. That may be exactly the type of role Green has. Here's a quote from the JSO:

Ahman Green got a lot of reps as a backup RB/third-down back ahead of Brandon Jackson, who stayed mostly on the scout team during jogthroughs.

I think u may also see Green and BJack in the backfield on third down. You essentially have count em now
Jennings, Driver, Lee/Havner, J Fin, Green, Bjack
That is six potential recievers if The Vikes over comit to the blitz they will be succeptable to draws slants and screens at the same time.

Unfortunately there are rules prohibiting the offense from fielding more than 11 players.

You have five o-lineman, a QB, and five spots left over. If Green and B-Jack are in the backfield at once, that leaves Driver, Jennings, and one more.

Oh -- and Finley isn't going to play this week, right?

beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic

Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
