First goal every year is to win the division.

We must win this or it will be a miracle to win the division.

So 6-1 Vikigns v. 4-2 Packers.

If we win, we're golden, 6-2 and 5-2, with a game in hand. We are basically tied for the division lead (plus equal head to head). But if we lose and its 7-1 and 4-3, the division title is likely done because they would have the head to head tie breaker and we would basically be behind 3 games.

What do you think gets a team in the playoffs as a wild card this year and who do you think wins the NFC North?

I would say:

10-6 for wild card (dallas, atl, chi, philly, seattle, sf, az all in hunt) - if we lose, we'd have to go 6-3 rest of the way, easily doable with our schedule)

11-5 for division (really between vikings and packers but vikings have a really hard schedule) - if we win, we'd have to go 6-3 rest of the way, easily doable with our schedule).

Conclusion, I do not think its a must win for the wildcard but a must win for the division. If we lose, it will suck but we are still very much alive for the playoffs considering our easy schedule.

But is anyone else really getting excited about the division title if we win this game. I really think the Vikings have a very hard schedule (Giants, Bears twice, @ Arizona, Cincy) and could end up at 11-5 or 10-6

How the hell do you say we have an easy schedule? Pitts, Balt, Dallas,SF, Bearsand Cards? i'm lost on your thinking.

I agree with you, my bad. I don't know why when I looked at the schedule I thought it was easy but the last time I looked at the full schedule in fairness was when the season started and we had (clevland, rams, lions, bucs, etc.). But you are right, the second half of the schedule is very difficult.

So maybe this game is almost a must win from a wildcard prospective too (given conference opponent and would be great for our strength of victory stat because Vikings even if they collapse will still finish 8-8 or better).

If we are a good football team the schedule is manageable. You can't expect to get all easy opponents and at least several of these games are at home.

Look, if we go 10-6 and beat all the teams we should beat and lose to the better teams we are not going anywhere anyways. Just check our '04 team because that's what happens to a team that can't beat anybody that is good. Is there one team remaining on the schedule we cannot beat? No.
Pittsburgh, at home, couldn't put up the numbers on the Vikes we did with Rodgers getting sacked eight times and knocked down more often than Rocky. That's with us playing up there with all the Favre crap going on and the place going crazy.
The only thing the Packers have to worry about is the Packers. They play good solid football they can beat anybody we have left.

Agreed.

If our OL holds up, we are an elite team. If not, we are above average (which means one and out in the Playoffs).

It all comes down to our OL. If it holds, our O stays on the field and rests our D. Makes a HUGE difference.

This is a must win as far as being in the driver seat for the division.

If the Packers lose this game they'll be behind two games and the Vikings will have the tie breaker so they would need the Vikings to lose three games games than the Packers if they want to win the division and the Vikings might have an easier rest of the way...

What year was it that the Vikes started 6-0, faded down the stretch to a 9-7 finish and no playoffs? Was it 2004?

5 years later, we may be looking at history repeating itelf.

I think this game comes down to who wants it more. Afterall, the Vikings may be thinking of this game as a must win as well.

I think both Favre and the Queens will choke down the stretch, but I'm not counting on it. I'd like to give them as much help as possible.
