Wouldn't mind a T. We are going to need a backup regardless for Lang now. I don't want to hear more about trading Kampman. I would look towards maybe James Jones or something. That is at least a position we can afford to lose a player at.

With Tauscher on the roster, we're back to 3 tackles, counting in Barbre. I don't think either Tauscher or Barbre can play LT, but we could go and gamble with only Lang there and starting with the musical chairs if he goes down.

I don't hope so, but I wouldn't be that surprised.

I hate Joe. He always gets me excited. But he kind of flopped a bit on his Kampman for Long trade. You can't say that the Rams are in rebuilding mode as to why they'd dump Steven Jackson due to his age, but yet they'd want Kampman who is in his late 20's, almost 30, right? So why would they want Kampman?

Anyhow, the Jackson idea got me stiff. I'd like him here. I just don't see us making any worthwhile trade. I seriously believe that the Packers staff over estimates their own talent and own ability to develop talent.

There's some kind of weird salary cap hit the Rams would have to take. Wouldn't mind seeing it though.

I hope we either get Peppers / Jackson / Long or Merriman but let's be honest what are the chances. We've got Ted Thompsonat the helm that has a draft love.

When's the last time the Packers actually made a big trade that we actually got someone good? Was it Al Harris?

"Rockmolder" wrote:

Ryan Grant. Although he exploded onto the scene here, so I don't think that that fits what you're going for.

The last decently big named guy we got was indeed Al Harris. Our 2nd for their 4th and Al. Pretty good trade if you ask me.

Before saying that he won't pull off any trades, though, look at last year. Even this article states it. We had a 3rd in for Gonzalez. The asking price for the entire season. In the last 10 minutes, though, they upped it to a 2nd. With Finley just drafted, I don't think that was worth it.

I don't think that he'd ever pull off a trade like the Jay Cutler one, but I think that he would do something like a 2nd for Merriman. Even though everyone knows that Ted Thompson never trades for players or trades up in the draft...

"Dulak" wrote:

Merriman isnt showing much this year - looks like he used to be good and he is only appearing average so far. I hope the pack doesnt go for him.

"Rockmolder" wrote:

We wouldn't get Merriman for a 2nd if he was producing on a top level. I'd take the gamble and hope that he gets that explosive first step back sometime soon. It's not long ago that he went down with that horrible injury. Not in recovery time, that is. The only problem I have with him are character problems, but I think that our locker room will take care of that in a good way. There won't be a rift, either.

As to Pack93, I would like Huff here, as well. He actually appears to show some of that talent, which should up the price a little. I wouldn't mind taking the gamble, give them a 3rd/4th and get Huff on the team. Only problem is that this is a risky pick for a player who hasn't proven anything. I think I hear people calling Dhazer, DD80 and Dh already.

I'm not that sold on getting Bush. He's a good back, but I don't think he'd offer us a lot more, if anything, than Grant.

So, with Clifton out yet again and looking like he might as well call it a career (I know, early conclusion for a very good pass blocker, but his body is just failing him), a trade for a tackle seems more likely than ever.

Still not that likely, but the odds are better than before. Especially if Clifton is done for another long period (Has the same ankle injury).

I'm still going with picking up some young, no name FA, but one can dream.

I'd cry tears of joy if we could somehow land Joe Thomas. but, no f'ing way that's going to happen.

if any of these rumors are actually legit rumors, I think the most likely to happen would be with the Raiders. Al Davis loves trading his guys away, and usually for relatively low-ish draft picks.

Chiefs and Raiders apparently are holding whole sale trade requests.
Raiders - Nnamdi - no trade
Chiefs - Cassel - no trade

Everyone else, available for the right price.

I wouldn't mind trying for McFadden.

I think McFadden is going to be a big bust or is. Can't run through arm tackles. If you get him the ball in space, he's amazing, but so are a lot of fast guys. In the NFL, rarely do you go untouched.

I'd talk to the Raiders about Michael Bush though. He would be a great fit IMO.
He's good in the zone blocking scheme. Hard to bring down and probably faster than Grant despite his size.
