I believe he received a Nobel peace prize for just thinking out loud. This is news to me that a person does not have to do anything to receive a peace prize. To be honest I think this was the dumbest thing I have ever seen.

it wouldn't just be the nameless on the board, the entire nation (well those who want to hate on him for everything) would be down obama's throat with "how dare he not accept this award - does he think he's too good for it - that 'monkey' should be happy to get any award even though he's a 'nazi' "

what people need to remember is that this award has lost it's meaning over the years. once they gave it to the wonderful gov ryan from illinois, i lost all respect for it. this award needs to be put in the hands of the people in the trenches who truly do wonderful work with the people - not the figure heads, imho.

Pfft! Those who dislike him are saying he should have declined because now it makes Obama have to tap-dance around the War on Terror (Which I am pretty certain Obama dislikes don't want)! Now for those who HATE Obama, well come on. What about those who hate Bush, they are always there but they are a small majority. Not to mention, Obama has 1 Allie. The media. They will always says he's perfect, so how can they disagree with him on declining?

Yet Obama only listens to his teleprompter, so what can you do?

Rodger that. No use having a discussion about the value and integrity of the award itself or people expressing their opinion about whether it was awarded to the right person.

Granted, I agree that it's natural for humans to tear down those greater than ourselves, but the whole debate here is whether the award itself is an affirmation of greatness, and if the man is great enough yet to receive the award in question. I don't think this debate has gotten particularly nasty, mean-spirited, or irrational... It's a conversation. You can be brash and abrasive, which can obviously be (and often is) a strength, but sometimes it just serves no constructive purpose.

I still say I should have received the award. I've done numerous things to help procure and maintain peace among the world. For example, look at the staff assemble here. That's enough pudding for proof!

Sorry, I have nothing to contribute to this thread. I know zilch about it and I think those who want to take the time to bash someone who received an award are up there with those who are in PETA and every other cult. Too much time. BUT, that's based from my own ignorance on the subject and means nothing.

That's good, cuz really, I have no clue what any of this means in this thread. I don't even know what the Brian Noble prize is all about or how many they are or if it's for a offensive or defensive person. NO clue. Do they get a statue or a trophy? I've never heard of the 'nobel pose' or anything.

I'm not bashing Obama for getting the "award". I'm bashing the idiots for giving it to him.
He hasn't done what SHOULD be necessary to get it.

I guess we should give the Detroit Lions a Lombardi Trophy this year, after all, they DID win a game, right? I mean.......they MIGHT do something to earn it SOME day....maybe.....right?
Makes as much sense if you ask me.
Ronald Reagan got the Berlin wall torn down. I didn't see him get an award for peace. I know....he was a "right winger". They don't get awards like that. No matter what they do.
AL Gore....for WHAT again???

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
