Bubba is a free agent!

While Brett Favre continues to ponder his NFL future, the Jets have released one of his old favorite targets.

Tight end Bubba Franks was let go Monday by New York after playing with the organization for one year. Franks caught six passes for 47 yards while serving primarily as a blocker.

Franks, who made three Pro Bowls earlier this decade in Green Bay, spent a few months on the free agent market before the Jets re-signed him in May.

Now Franks is free to join any team he wants again. Perhaps Favre could use his pull and get Franks a job with the Vikings.

That's assuming, of course, Favre actually wants a job for himself.

Do we want a tight end that can block (unless he's covering Strahan) and catch passes as long as they're inside the 3 yard line?!?

I think the Jets cut him due to knee problems since they had re-signed him to a new one-year deal back in May. Frankly, we may not even carry a 3rd TE on the roster to start the season if no one like Humphrey or Moore actually steps up and shows they're worth keeping on the roster behind Finely and Lee.

I could see some team picking him up going into the regular season if they have injuries at TE and he's been able to rehab his knee, but his time in Green Bay is pretty much over.

Why the heck would we want Bubba Franks? Packer Nation seriously needs to stop dwelling in the past.

One of TT's worst moves, in my opinion, was signing him to a 28 million dollar deal, or whatever we paid for him. Of course this is a tounge in cheek post, but just thought it was interesting since he obviously had a long history with the organization.

Bubba Franks was born on January 6, 1978 and was drafted in 1s t round of 2000 draft by retired Packer GM Ron Wolf.

Unless he can still block and you want to keep three TEs then maybe you take a look. I'm never 100% against signing someone right now to bring them in for camp and take a look, but he would have to prove he's still an above average blocker to get a roster spot.

If no one wants him, bring him in for a look. If he still has something left in the tank, sign him for the minimum.

Bubba No.

However... Koren Possible?

Koren Robinson is waiting for team to call

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on July 13, 2009 10:21 PM

Add Koren Robinson to the long list of receivers ready for any job that opens in August.

ESPN's John Clayton reports that Robinson is staying in shape and waiting for a team to call.

The Seahawks called on Robinson after Week Two last season, and he filled in admirably, considering the circumstances. The ninth overall pick from the 2001 draft posted 400 yards in twelve games.

Seattle and Green Bay are the most likely landing spots if injuries strike, since he is most familiar with their offensive systems.

Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : NFL informed teams today that the 2025 salary cap will be roughly $277.5M-$281.5M
Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : Los Angeles Chargers are likely to release DE Joey Bosa this off-season as a cap casualty, per league source.
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : If the exploit is not fixed, we'll see tons of "50 top free agents, 50 perfect NFL team fits: We picked where each should sign in March" lo
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Issue should be solved, database cleaned and held strong working / meeting. Boom!
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : It should be halted now.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : usually spambots are trying to get traffic to shady websites filled with spyware; the two links being spammed were to the Packers website

Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Yep. You can do that with holding down ENTER on a command in Console of browser

Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : I'm not certain it's a bot.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : I've got to go to work soon which is a pity because I'm enthralled by this battle between the bot and Zero
