I guess I should have made multiple threads.

First off the thread was intended to identify the exceptions to the general condition of competition everywhere.

Perhaps I am more pessimistic on Finley than most.
Last year Finley had trouble lining up correctly even late in the season.
By not being a quick learner and leaving school early, I think he is still a year away from challenging an experienced vet like Lee.

No body mentioned Cullen Jenkins, who by habit is a hard worker, will have an easy time this camp or my comment that his alleged competition is a part timer.

Nor with as many misses that Crosby had last season that no real competition was brought in for him.

I didn't think such a thread would upset so many.

Who's upset? I haven't got the impression that anyone is upset.

sorry I'm not a finley lover - he's got to prove he can catch the ball first and learn the plays.

Only at the end of last season could he do a few of the above.

Our TE position is one of the weakest positions of the offense IMO.

We have a new guy that appeared to be doing well ya?

- also a little off subject; I heard swain is doing real well also as a WR

I'm with Dulak. The jury is still out on Finley as far as I'm concerned. I really hope we get a chance to take the TE out of Oklahoma in next year's draft. Jermaine Gresham.

i think everybody agrees, that finley is going to beat out lee for the starting te position, maybe not by the first game, but by midseason.

I also think tramon williams may challenge al harris for a starting spot.

I also feel jamarko Simmons will be the #5 WR not R. martin

Beating out Lee wont be much of an accomplishment. I'm sorry. He'll have to do more than that to earn my credit.

Someone mentioned how we had to use the TE a lot last season to help out the o-line. How come no one is taking this into consideration? Lee was a decent TE last season. He only caught 39 passes for like 300 yards. But he did have 5 TDs. There was only 6 more TE's with more TDs. He was a top10 tight end last year.

I don't know what some of you are talking about. Lee is a dang good TE. I'd put him in the top 16.

Last year he was misused and yes, blocking.

Plus, Aaron's not a TE guy like Brett is. Not at all implying one QB is better than another, just different styles. Brett has always loved TEs. Aaron's a WR first guy.
