I can understand.

A few years ago my favorite singer left the band Darkane. That is my user name as you can see. The decision to leave apparently was a "band" decision, but as I read more and thought more something just didn't seem right. I began to feel a bit bitter about the situation and didn't respect the fact that they wanted to take the vocals in a different (higher pitched) direction. The style that wasn't screamed seemed unnatural as well, but I slightly digress. The sting would have lessened by a steller follow-up album, but the final product was one of almost total disappointment. If it would have been awesome, then perhaps over time the wound would have healed quicker. It wasn't just the vocals either... the instrumentation and songwriting also took a bit of a downturn.

Maybe through this situation you can see some parallels. Let's hope this season is a turnout and a success!

There are plenty of FA still out there. Vonnie Holliday must not want to play football either. Mark Tauscher as well. So if we sign a FA from here forward that guy is not a dedicated player?

For heaven's sake, man, the sheer ballsiness of the way you deliberately sidestep this man's point and argue another thing entirely is breathtaking. Strawmen everywhere fear for their safety when you appear.

He asked, if Favre wants to play football, why isn't he in a Jet's uniform? In other words, why did he retire in the first place? He wasn't trying to argue that Favre's failure to sign with a team already is a sign of a lack of dedication. He was arguing that his retirement from the team he was on was evidence of this.

I'm not sidestepping anything.

He retired, I get that. Does that mean he can't have a desire to play football again? Does that mean he can't act on that desire?

First of all, one reason I'm mad right now is that Favre is allowed to retire, unretire, retire and unretire again to circumvent rules set in place by the NFL. The second reason I'm mad is that I don't want to see him in purple period, I will admit that.

A fairy tale ending for me would have been in '07, but unfortunately, the reveared one had to chuck up some quail so he could get to the locker room faster to warm up.

Nail on the head, esp. the 2nd paragraph, and the jets question is spot on. If he's coming back for the love of the game, and he's a true competitor (insert more nauseating rhetoric here), than why did he decide to retire so quickly. God knows it took him about 5 months of drama each of the previous 6 offseasons.

So Brett Favre lost the Packers game solely for us? I'm trying to understand here, really.

Everyone says we can't win w/o Brett and all that crap. I'm not going to put everything on his shoulders, but at the same time, he didn't do a hell of a lot to put us over the edge during the 4th quarter. Then OT, the Hollywood ending is right there on a silver platter and he throws another pattented Brett Favre duck to the most covered guy on the field on the very first play.

Ok, fine, it was a bad throw. I've never disagreed with that.

Now is it fair for me to use that same logic with A-Rodgers?
