I also hate when people act like it wasn't right of Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy to question his dedication to playing football after he freakin retired and then waited out most of the offseason to decide to maybe return then finally do so... wtf

I don't have a problem "questioning" his dedication. I have a problem with them not doing what was best for the 2008 team and in the meantime butchering the end of a legends career.

Questioning his dedication was part of making the decision for whats best for the team.

Really, what is the criteria for dedication? Because he missed some time? Didn't he do that years before as well? Why was it OK then and not last year?

Did Brett Favre just fail to arrive at the stadium previously? You'd think you could factor in that he had a previous record on file in GB. If Brett said he wanted to play why would you doubt him?

lol, I always kinda get the feeling that Brett decided during the offseason that he wanted to come back and play for Minnesota even before the whole mess and figured since GB drafted 2 QBs they would just release him. But when he came back Ted had enough cap room to call his bluff.

(Just a fun little conspiracy I dreamed up not serious)

"Stevetarded" wrote:

You know where that theory came from?

Proven False Tampering charges made against the Vikings by Ted Thompson. Yet we call Brett a liar. Interesting.

Make Brett look bad, and some people will follow and you will win the fans over. Too bad not everyone falls for slimy political tricks like that.

Not enough evidence and proven false are 2 entirely different things. It is very hard to prove tampering, let's see where the Titans end up w/ the Haynesworth charges.

I'm not sure tampering charges can ever be technically "proven false"

How would that be done?

The NFL ruled on it and the ruling was false. You and I have nothing to base anything on but apparently the NFL does. I tend to believe them over you.

Unless you know something the NFL doesn't. If you do please share.

I would say the criteria would be
1. He actually retired
2. Saying he gave the Packers everything he had and had nothing left to give

Off the top of my head...

You want to finish your career here?
Favre: "Definitely. If in two years, say, they want to trade me, I'd probably walk away. Retire."

Lots of people retire, than unretire. I'm not sure but I'd imagine you have changed your mind a few times in your lifetime.

Brett has always gave 100%. If he said he was ready to come back I have no reason not to believe him

Yeah but I strongly everyone expects that if they unretire they would automatically deserve a spot in that business, even if they had been working there for 20 or 30 years. I don't see bosses doing that just because that person gave it "his 100%"...

I believe in the conspiracy. He wanted to play for Minnesota for along time in my view. I believe ever since the Packers said no which wasn't long after the draft. I think he felt Ted would've been stupid enough to do it, but that of course didn't happen.

I also think he manipulated the system this off-season to go and play for Minnesota.

It's not so much Favre though. I think Bus Cook was kind of the puppet master behind all this. He knows what he's doing. So does Favre, but Cook tries to play like the stupid southern country boy and in reality, he's shrewd. I recall reading about it on something Andrew Brandt wrote.

So yeah I thinkt his has been in the works for about two years now.

Tampering goes on all over the NFL. It's just insanely hard to prove.

Favre probably did talk with Childress and Bevalle and the talk of him playing there more than likely came up.

The problem is you can't fine two guys for talking to a friend and it's impossible to prove that they indeed did talk about it because they'll just deny and say that they were talking about hunting for example.

I guess my point is.

1. It probably happened.

2. It probably wasn't the first and only time it did happen.

3. Packers are probably guilty of tampering in the past as well and they'll be guilty of tampering in the future too.

4. So will the Vikings again.

Proving it is a different story.
