Well I think it is kinda obvious that Kampman isn't happy about this change in position. IMO, having a guy who is usually seen as "media friendly" all of a sudden go silent means something. Also having McCarthy say that Kampman was "hesistant" is coach speak meaning that Kampman isn't exactly overjoyed by the change.

Is this a big deal right now? No. I'm sure many players in the NFL aren't thrilled with how they are being used. It will only become a big deal if Aaron Kampman comes out blasting the decision or him half-assing his job this upcoming season. I expect that neither of these situations play out.

he won't half-ass it. Even if he is pissed, he still needs to dominate this year so he can cash in next year when he needs a new contract.

Interesting ... I read the following which is different than what you read. I have not once read that McCarthy said Kampman was hesitant on switching from DE to OLB. I did read that McCarthy THINKS there is always hesitancy when you are asked to do something different.

(How did Aaron Kampman look to you?)
I don't want to be redundant; I think this defense is going to help Aaron Kampman. I think there is always a hesitancy when you are asked to do something different. Aaron was very comfortable in the old scheme, but I think this is going to create more opportunities for him. There is diversity in the scheme. First and second down is clearly different for him. The sub packages, there is some multiplicity there that I think will also help him. I think he moves well in space. He has spent a lot of individual time with Kevin Greene. I know Dom Capers and Kevin Greene both feel very good about where Aaron is today, so he's only going to get better.

It seems it is YOUR opinion that Kampman is hesitant on the switch. That's cool (I agree). Let's not say that McCarthy said it though, unless you have something that contains his words that prove it to be true. šŸ™‚

Thank you for wasting another post in this thread with the same quote that proves absolutely nothing except that a writer has an opinion that the coach SEEMED to acknowledge something that's still unproven. Wow, what a great contribution!

Wow, that says a lot to everyone doesn't it? It says that the writer says the coach SEEEMED to acknowledge Kampman had some reservations. Reservations for what? Prime Quarter? Olive Garden?

I suppose since your quote proves nothing that means I'm looking for a pissing match eh? Of course that's your next route because you have NOTHING else.

Why can't we just let MEN speak for themselves and just go from there? It's pathetic that we take some little blurb about what a writer feels he saw (whats their perception on it and that plays a HUGE role on what they could feel the coach SEEMED to be acknowledging) and that means once linked with our perception that it's true.

It's fun to speculate, that's for sure. But saying one person is saying something that's not true is wrong and irritates me. No question sometimes you have to read between the lines. in this case I feel that's wrong because its shining a negative tone on Aaron Kampman by doing so.

I honestly don't really question whether Kampman is not thrilled with this change. I don't think I would be. Pro Bowl DE. Mastered his trade the last 7 years in the pros. Now he's being switched to the OLB position in a new scheme in the last year of his contract in which is going to be his biggest payday of his career. Yeah, I think I'd be a little miffed myself.

Now on the flip side. I think it's the coaches job to SELL the scheme and his role to him so he is excited and has no reservations or hesitancy towards the change.

LOL, I really get under your skin don't I.

How a simple quote could lead to all of this is strange.

Keep trying to dispute the obvious if it makes you feel better. Kampy doesn't like the switch , it's completely obvious to EVERYONE except the 3-4 posters on here that disagree simply to disagree. His level of unhappiness can be debated but between MM's statement and Kampy's silence it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure it out.

Why you are so resistant to the obvious I don't know. I'm not slamming anyone in the Packers organization, which I know fuels your fire to defend. It is what it is.

I think that this is a very good point.

Lets not forget, regardless of what some think, players play for money. Thier money is mostly tied to incentives. Those incentives (assumption on my part) that are in his current contract were structured around production he would hope to get as a DE.

I think the comfort level is indicative of his feelings towards those incentives and if he can still get them at his new position.

Again, if he doesn't do well, you might see him looking for a scheme that is better suited for him to make his money, say a 4-3.

I do indeed think that Kampman is uncomfortable. Not so much totally unhappy. Like Z2C said, he worked himself up from a late round pick to a premier DE. Of course he's seeing all kinds of obstacles in his way right now. I just hope that he'll perform well and all of this stuff will soon be forgotten. If he doesn't, he'll be traded next year and we'll get some nice picks for him.

I wonder if they'd give Kampman a "good faith bonus", guaranteeing his salary this year, lowering the expectations on the incentive bonuses, awarding with extra workout or attendance bonuses, etc. Mght help. Sometimes you gotta grease the tracks a little bit to get the train rolling.

Entertaining... the man decides not to speak for whatever reason and the Packers world is coming off the tracks.

He is at voluntary practices folks.. "voluntary"... lets not spin this into more than it really is.

I see very little positive that could come from him speaking.. especially now that the media is looking for anything.. something... a nugget to spin.

Yes, I have become anti-media to the core..
