It still should be up to the individual businesses.

If a place WANTS to go smoke free, more power to them.

The casino in Milwaukee has smoking and nonsmoking areas, so it caters to both sides. And LOTS of people smoke in there.
Like i said, it should be up to the business owners, not the government.

If it's supposedly health issues, then we might as well go back to prohibition. Alcohol related illness and people killed or maimed by drunk drivers should make them make drinking illegal.

Oh.........and they should outlaw any junk food. No more Twinkies, or McDonald's or any junk food. After all, how many people die each year because they are over weight and have high blood pressure and heart disease. Parents that let their kids eat that stuff should be put in jail for contributing to the delienquency of minors.

Take my word for it.....not so many years in the future, the government will put a special tax on all junk food, to try to "force" people to eat more healthy.
"Big Brother" gone amuck.

Big difference between a twinkie and smoke; is that smoke adversely affects others. I cant tell you how many apartments I have lived in where it was a big problem because my neighbors smoked. Let alone seeing mothers walk around smoking while carrying their kid in a car seat etc ...
(IMO this would be like pouring alcohol down a kids throat).

you mentioned the casino in milwaukee; last time I was there was awhile ago; guess 6 years~ and all's I know is I came out smelling like a ashtry. Smoking sections dont work that well; in kenosha they had closed off spaces in some restaurents where people smoked and it was enclosed(sealed) thats the only place I have been too where the whole place didnt get the effects.

On a personal note - I got to tell you I enjoy going out in london on the weekends; can go to places and not have to breath in smoke and get to meet all sorts of people. If I had to rely on pub owners to have smoke free places; there would probably be what 1% of the pubs be smoke free(and this would be pushing it - lots of people smoke in england). The all mighty dollar or pound.

IF smoking only affected those that did it then I could probably careless; but it doesnt and I can attest to this.

I think this no smoking ban is Bullshit and will hurt in the long run. Around here it has already started effecting the smaller bars and even the bowling alleys. When your at bowling and drinking a few beers and then have to go stand outside in the middle of the winter for a cig sucks. I had non smokers tell me that ciggy smoke kills and i just tell them stand out here once in the parking lot and you will die faster than me blowing ciggy smoke in your face.
They ask me how is that and i just tell them i have never heard of anyone going in their garage and lighting up a smoke to kill them selves but i have heard of people sitting in their running cars dying.

You non smokers ever think of how much the smokers effect the economy? Get rid of smoking means no more ciggys. This in turn means we hurt the tabacco farmers, which hurts the ciggy companies, which in turn hurts your gas stations and stores.

Now look at how many jobs just has been effected because of no smoking.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Well, the ones that I'm killin' I'd probably want dead anyway.

Kind of like my theory on Heaven and Hell.

There is no way I'd want to hang out for eternity with the folk that actually deserve to go to heaven.

I'd just as soon go to hell and hang with my buds.

I bet the devil allows smoking.

Both slick because if they don't have a job that effects their lives 😛 Don't get me wrong i understanding having no smoking places but to have it so there is no place for a person to smoke is just stupid and actually very discriminating in my mind.

Philip Morris International employs more than 75,000 people worldwide. Thats just at one ciggy company now add in the farmers, truck drivers, and stores. Thats alot of people effected by these bans.

I ask you what is more deadly? Ciggy smoke or exhaust from a car or truck?

I actually DO respect the fact that my smoke causes harm to others and act accordingly (Exception being when I light up accidentally, and it is accidental)

I haven't seen any incidences that are otherwise in recent memory.

In places where smoking is allowed, if the guy/gal next to me isn't smoking (say, a bar that allows smoking) I will ask the person or person(s) around me if they mind if I smoke.

Here-now--those places are few and far between, as I have previously noted.

They know where they are, believe me.

Now they are adding--in one fell swoop, an additional $1.45 per pack tax to assist in the deficit in PA.

It is another sin tax.

Just wait until the Marxists decide that one of your sacred cows is deemed restriction/tax-worthy.

Hell of a country we got going these days. What the hell, don't matter much, at least we got a cyber-Czar now to fix our problems. Speaking of Czars and Marxists, the good news is that the Russian Communists think things are going along beautifully here in the U.S. The marxism they dig on is going much better than they anticipated...It is almost Pavlovian in nature. Bitch is they also see what I see...WWIII.

May not be able to smoke, but I might get to see the exchange in the near future, which is kind of cool.

Pravda says WWIII imminent

If you are sitting in Lambeau, and these guys are sitting out in the Fox river and see this, I say it's OK to light up a cig while you watch. Gonna take a shit load of carbon credits to pay for that one...

This is America! We need to be more damn creative and innovative to create jobs. Not continue manufacturing cancer sticks to provide jobs. I know cigs are in other countries too before some jerk tries to redirect this convo to that.

Those who lose their jobs from not making cigarettes will have to find other avenues. Who knows? Maybe start their own business? Maybe some of those cig workers are extremely talented in other areas and could invent thigns or who knows?

Point is, you don't keep something around that is killing people for the pure sake of jobs. That's stupid in my opinion.

Man up, find a new way to create revenue for yourself.

A question for the smokers:

I have smoked weed before; and while it wasn't my thing, it was kind of fun to get high. So I get it.

When I was younger, I smoked a few cigarettes, and got absolutely nothing out of it. I was expecting to get a buzz, but was disappointed with the results.

So why do you guys spend so much money on something that gives you no pleasure what so ever? This boggles my mind.

Actually, I think most of us that smoke think that we look like morons, not cool. I get pleasure from it. It's killing me, slowly I'm sure. I personally do not care. I'll get back to you on that when I'm diagnosed with lung cancer.

I have the same question. Exactly what pleasure do you get out of smoking cigarettes? If I even get one, the buzz I get from a cigarette is so fleeting that it's not worth the cash outlay. At least when I smoke tobacco on a hookah, the buzz (which is a lot more intense) lasts for several minutes. The buzz from cigars lasts longer too, but I don't like the dirty feeling I get from cigars or cigarettes. It sometimes lasts for hours.

But even though I don't understand what you guys get out of cigarettes, it still cheeses me off that the government wants to make this pleasure prohibitively expensive and difficult for you to obtain.
