The only free agents who would conceivably not resign with the team were those who had a chance of striking the mother lode in an uncapped year (assuming it happens -- and if it didn't, then they'd look REALLY dumb). Besides Tauscher and Clifton, do we even have any free agents who fall into this category?

Ted is fair with the contracts he offers. He paid Grant and Rodgers last year. This year he will offer fair, but not overblown contracts to Jennings and Collins for sure.

Jennings will be offered in the range of 4-5 years at 40-45 million. With a big portion being paid against this years cap.

Collins will get something with money worth about 5 million a year also, with a big chunk eaten up this year.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

And as Pack93z has pointed out REPEATEDLY, (caps very intentional, due to hearing difficulties in evidence amongst the THers here)

THer== Ted Thompson hater for future reference

FA is far from over. Someone's loss might be our gain. Ted will be doing what he always does, and make the best decisions for the good of the Green Bay Packers. Some of those guys will probably not be on that list, and some that are not even a twinkle in any GBP fans's eye right now just might be on our roster in 2009.

Ironman had a legitimate discussion going on this in another thread.

Naturally, it was largely ignored, too busy sniffing Brett's crotch and hating on Ted going on... vice-versa granted.

Sorry he doesn't get you more high Madden value fantasy players or whatever you gamers/FFPL dudes/gals are seeking.

I rather think the fact that Vonnie Holliday is still out of work rather vindicates Ted Thompson's judgment in this matter. But who knows. It's quite possible Holliday will get a call after training camp has started.

Let's see, this same argument was used last year to prove Ted Thompson doesn't know what he's doing. We had loads of cap room going in to OTA's and minicamps and by the end of the summer most of the cap room was used up or moved forward into this season. All teams do it. Unattainable incentives, changing salary money into bonus money etc. etc.

When people don't understand the business side of the sport they should just keep their mouths shut, close there eyes and wish really hard that Brett Favre will come back and play for us again.

Alex Marvez, of FOXSports.com, reports the Green Bay Packers are $29 million under the salary cap, according to figures obtained Monday, May 18, by FOXSports.com.

I'm glad we didn't have room to sign any free agents.

You didn't happen to notice how many current players are up for contract next year did you? Yeah, I didn't think so.

How about Jennings? I'm not sure about rookies, but since they're as yet unsigned for the most part, doesn't that mean their salary will need to be included in this year's cap numbers?

"dhazer" wrote:

So we signed Jennings to a new contract, or Collins, or even AK? Can i see links please they redid there contracts please? I will stand by my thinking and that Jennings will not sign an extension, if he refused to talk about it last year why would he change his mind this year. Remember Rodgers was the one that jumped all over that money.

So once again please tell me how their so called contracts for 2010 impact the 2009 season. I would love to hear from the smartass of the class that tried calling me out. Get off your ass and find these contracts for me. Before you start typing better do some research first, unless you our in with the Packers front office and seen the contracts done. SO Smartass please please point out how those contracts effect this year.

SO enjoy your +1 from another Ted Thompson lover

Oh and to answer your question Dakota what did it get us last year? It got us a 6-10 season.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Loosen the bone Wilma.

People are getting militant on this board today - toward each other.

I believe he was speaking about contracts getting done as we go forward this year. The question would be, how much time do we have to restructure contracts so that they go against this year's cap. Anyone have this info?
