I agree with Porky.

Holmgren has ALWAYS had winning records with the Packers. MM has one. One. Uno.

He's been to four NFC Championship games, three Super Bowls and won another.

He won five straight division titles in a row in Seattle.

He won another three in a row in Green Bay.

That's eight division titles.

McCarthy so far has one winning season as a Head Coach.

That's it.

Yup. Why are they even in the same sentence?

Let it be known, I'm rooting for MM. I hope he has a 19-0 season in '09. But geez, you don't reward someone until they produce. Holmgren produced immediately (4-12 -> 9-7, then Playoffs the next year, then Playoffs the year after that, then Playoffs the year after that, then a SB win).

and McCarthy didn't produce immediately? Taking over a 4-12 team and going 8-8 and 13-3? So what your basing this on is one season. I see.

Yeah McCarthy's only had one winning season he's only been here three. You can spit out all the numbers on Holmgren you want but you can't make comparisons when he's been around five times longer to get those numbers.

If your going to do that then McCarthy has been to the NFC Championship Game one in every three years he's coached. That's all you can say because that's all the longer he's been around.

I have not been that impressed with Holmgren's body of work through the entire time he's been with Seattle. Over the last 10 years the West has been Seattle and three of the worst teams in the NFL.

Pretty easy pickens when you want to put all the good stuff up on a board.

This is good stuff. Comparing McCarthy to Holmgren is a total joke.

Holmgren is a proven commodity. McCarthy is wet behind the ears. I'd be curious to see if MM could even land a HC job if GB let him go.

Wrong, he's been to THREE Super Bowls where ONE he won. Not three Super Bowls and ANOTHER that was won. Unless you're dating back to his 49er days then I think the discussion has lost is creditability. He wasn't their HC.

Amazing how mm gets docked for the 6 - 10? Nothing about taking a 4 - 12 team and doubling the wins the next season though? Interesting. Yet the same thought is okay against Ted? Took a 10 win team down to a 4 win team. We can have ANY consistency at all can we? Wait, we DO have consistency! It's constantly BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD END OF THE WORLD!!

I see how it is. 13 wins, to 6, KILL HIM! 4 wins to 8 wins, bah who cares? I'm an ungreatful fan and refuse to acknowledge that stuff! KILL KILL KILL.

So quick to forget the positives, yet so quick to bash for the negatives.

This is why I admire RP so much folks. He's not afraid to look at the glass half full and dig for some positives. I always thought fans were fanatically fantastic for their team. Albeit he has a twisted way of it sometimes, lol.

Yeah, Holmgren is 86-74 in Seattle.

McCarthy is 27-21.

It's so funny I can't stop laughing.

In 10 years Holmgren has taken Seattle to the NFC Championship game once.

That is funny. The same number of times McCarthy has gotten there in three.

Yeah, MM get's crap for one winning season because after all 8-8 is not a winning season but we hear about how great Holmgren is winning FIVE DIVISION TITLES in Seattle.

Three of those years they finished 9-7. In fact, he finished 9-7 four times tthere. Three other times he had losing seasons.

Now you tell me that if this team finishes 9-7 or worse 70% of the time and only win four playoff games in 10 years we got happy campers around here?

You can't argue that Holmgren has the better resum though. Although that doesn't make him the better current coach.

I don't think we need to replace McCarthy, and I doubt that we'll replace him anytime soon. You can't possibly satisfy everyone, so there will be haters. I often hear that he abandons the running game to fast, doesn't take any risks, passes to little and shouldn't run the ball that often.

Look. I like Mike Holmgren. I know the guy is a good coach.

The fact is, however, he has been extremely mediocre in Seattle over the last 10 years and had only one very outstanding season there and that just is what it is.

People want to look way back past that to the years he was here and it was good but that was a LONG time ago.

All I know is I watched Mike McCarthy slam down those headphones at the end of that Bears game and knew right where his mindset was in terms of what he was going to do about it.

Mike Holmgren walked off that field last year and looked like a guy that needed to go into a deep forest somewhere for a very, very long time.

I know which guy I want out there.
