Bring him on as OC, let him call the plays.

I think he still has it. Last year half his receiving corps and his starting QB where injured.

He went to a Super Bowl just 3-4 years ago. I think he can still be a very good coach (as much as I hate his split backfield plays) and he'd find employment very soon.

I don't want him here though, I just want McCarthy to become more aggressive. I really like the 07 Mike and I hope he can get back to his previous form.

Well, maybe the threat of Holmgren coming to GB in '10 will light a fire under Mike McCarthy's *** and he'll stop running twice and throwing on 3rd and 8 when we're in their red zone.

Competition is good for EVERYONE. When someone thinks their job is safe, they get lazy.

Dude, our offensive was explosive and scored a lot of points. Why dwell on a few strategies that didn't work out? Do you compare those failures to the times when we ran it twice and got first downs? How about when we converted third and short after running it twice and getting 7 yards? (which is grants average yard per carry x 2.

I wish people would give the offense, rogers, and the OC's their due credit. They in no way were the reason for our record last year.

Bonus point for you. Tripp! The O was NOT the problem last year. How many times did the defense and special teams blow the late comeback AR provided with minutes left to play? Many.....

I would take Holmgrem over McCarthy anyday of the week.

Seattle's talent isn't that good and 4-12 is probably what anyone would achieve with the injuries Seattle dealt with last year. If you think the Packers had it bad, Seattle was twice as worse with injuries. Losing Hasselbeck alone is pretty bad.

As far as not achieving anything in Seattle.

His name is a lock to be placed in their ring of honor so to speak. He put that franchise on the map.

Personally, Green Bay goes 6-10 then something is going wrong and it's time for a change and if Holmgrem's there, he'd be on my shortlist to replace McCarthy.

How long ago was it for some of you to remember we spanked Seattle's butt in the playoffs?

I like Mike Holmgren. I see no need, however, to bring him in here, give him three years or whatever to do his own thing with a team built by others based on what they wanted them to do.

There's a lot that goes into a decision to make a move like this. Holmgren is not going to run McCarthy's offense and who knows what he will be comfortable with concerning the defense?

So, we've got an offense that has shown it can score points and is capable of doing even better and we have made all these changes to upgrade the defense and we bring in somebody right behind this to do what? Make more changes?

Change is necessary from time to time. But change after change can change everything but the results if your not careful.

I personally believe his stubbornness and his ego cost us SB 32 and had he stuck around instead of wanting to call all the shots the Packers would have at least one more championship now. I said good riddance at the time and would hate to see him return.

The question is 6 wins or lower again.

If that happens then McCarthy would have done something in three of his four seasons that Mike Holmgrem has never done before and that's not have a winning record as Packers Head Coach.

GB spanking Seattle two years ago is irrelevant in my view because I felt GB at the time and I do right now is a way better team than Seattle top to bottom.

I voted replace McCarthy with Holmgrem.

Obviously, Holmgrem wouldn't be given the authority to shake up the Packers to much and I really don't think he would even if he had the power.

Holmgrem's west coast offense is basically a Bill Walsh style offense or the closes to it and while McCarthy's isn't that, it is similar. The exception is Holmgrem hates the shotgun and GB wouldn't use it under Holmgrem.

Beyond that the offense would likely stay intact and Holmgrem is a better QB coach and playcaller than McCarthy in my opinion.

I would probably keep Thompson on as GM and Thompson has worked with Holmgrem before. They know each other well I believe.

Holmgrem is just a better coach than McCarthy and again this assuming a 6 or fewer win season again this year which to me is unacceptable.

Porky it would mean change.

If it meant not that much change why change it at all? Holmgren is going to do it the way he knows how to do it and that would also mean a change for Arod as well. Different timing, different reads and routes, and like you said no shotgun. He's in an extremely QB friendly environment now so I don't see how Holmgren can do a whole lot there to improve on that.

I brought up the head to head matchup in the playoffs for a reason. Yes, we were a better team then they were and a lot of that had to do with the coordination of personnel between Ted Thompson and McCarthy.

We will be an even more talented team this year especially what we can get out of ARod after his freshman year as a starter. This team comes CLOSE to 10 losses again and it's because half the team is on a stretcher.

There's too much talent here to continue to lose all those last drive games like last year. IMO it was a fluke which is hinted in the fact we set a franchise all time team history record for last minute losses.

Maybe why were being projected by many as back in the playoffs again this year.

Again though your ignoring the question that is being presented.

I don't believe the Packers will do bad this year. I think they'll probably make the playoffs due to a lot of factors, but IF you and I are wrong which we could be, a change is needed.

Not many better coaches out there than Mike Holmgrem and IF you could get him to keep Dom Capers on, you'd have Holmgrem installing his offense and Capers continuing to install his defense.

That of course would be another factor.

I also liked to add as far as being a QB guru or QB friendly, Holmgrem is one of the best of All Time. He worked with Montana and he worked with Steve Young. Oh and Brett Favre as well as Matt Hasselbeck.

All of those guys are better than the guys under McCarthy who've developed and those right now are Aaron Brooks, Marc Bulger, Jake Delhomme, Brett Favre for a few years, and now Aaron Rodgers.
