I was so sick of the punting last year I was hoping that they would See if Ray Guy would come out of retirement. At 58 he would have been a better option.

I don't care which of these punters makes the team. Just kick the ball baby.

I'm hearing alot about ST this year ... from all the new draftees to the punters we will have ie potentially 2 on our roster.

I do agree our ST plays often sucked as far as kicking and stopping the player - why I was especially shocked when we got bush back.

I watched all the interviews of the new draft picks and most of them talked about the ST and how they can make an impact there.

Obviously MM plans to make this a priority this year.

I wonder if any of the new guys could be decent at running the ball after a punt/kick-off

as long as we dont have our kicker making many of the stops like what happend last year

The way our punting started out I was just hoping we'd go for it on 4th and whatever.

He had the first down run against the Vikes, a pass to Noah Herron, a pass to Morency and then one incompletion 😛

Hunter led the Packers with 25 special-teams tackles in 2007 but had only three last season a drop that coincided with the teams overall struggles on special teams, beginning with the decision to replace punter Jon Ryan with Derrick Frost just before the season.

That makes Graessle the most intriguing among the four tryout players who signed, because he has at least a chance to win a starting job.

Wow. Goes to show my memory needs an upgrade. I remember Hunter as being a solid ST player, but had no idea in '08 he only got 3 tackles. That's a pretty significant drop off.

As for Graessle, heck, bring in as many guys as we can. We could definitely use an upgrade at the P position. I'm still bummed we no longer have Ryan.

Yea but you have to understand football.... IT'S NOT ABOUT STATS....

The reason he got so many ST plays in 07 is because

1) Other teams were focusing in on Tracy White because he was the best ST players..
2) He was 250 pounds with great speed and endurance

In 08 other teams focused on Hunter and tried to double him and he was 270 which so slowed him down and hurt his game around other than at DT which he shouldn't of been playing in the first place.

And yes he did play DT some to give the real DTs a breather....

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
