A lot of people (including McCarthy) blame Crosby for the blocked FG and I just really do not get it. The Bears line had infiltrated the LoS before our guys even got their hands out of the dirt.

This is not how the front line on an NFL field goal unit is supposed to look. I think if Crosby kicked the ball straight up into the air it could have still been blocked.

The arrow points at the line of scrimmage.

I guess they felt like it was still in his ability to make that kick as astounding a feat as it sounds. Hopefully, the new special teams coaching staff will help, but hey, when you get beat you get beat, so hopefully this year, we don't get beat at the lines as much.

I think loosening the reins would have gotten us at least a few more wins.

SEVEN of our ten losses were by 4 points or less.

You can debate all you want about how our defense couldn't make a stop when it needed to, but if just one drive in each game had ended in a touchdown instead of a field goal, we likely would have won 4 or 5 of those games...

I wonder who was called for offensive holding the most on our team last season.

Clifton 2 times vs Minny (home ) then once vs Tampa, then once vs the Texans..So a total of 4 times

I'd like to see that image in high resolution. I wonder if a case could be made for a neutral zone infraction on that play. But yes, I agree that the miss wasn't Crosby's fault. How long of an attempt was that kick?

Wow, so only an average of once per game. It sure felt like more than that.

The calls that drive me nuts are the illegal blocks in the back. They seem to happen almost every single damn return. The officials call these infractions every time, so why do the players keep committing the same dumb mistakes over and over? If you're blocking someone in the back, he's already past you anyway. Instead of trying to be a hero and potentially sabotaging a 50-yard run, let the guy go so your returner can do his job.

It drove me nuts all the times we saw returns out to midfield brought back inside the 20 because of yet another dumb penalty. I think our return yardage would be twice or three times our current totals were it not for all the illegal blocks in the back.

and this helps prove the fact why we need a better Oline.

blocked FG unit; poor running play production ... and sacks allowed.

penalties - ya I sware it was almost liek clockwork getting another 10 yards thrown on every set of downs. Arod was always having to go 20 yards for every new set of downs.

#1 if we have a bigger and more solid Oline our guys will less likely feel the need to hold or take on a penalty to protect the QB

#2 our guys need to learn better to get away with the calls or to not get penalties called on us.

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔

Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : *to be able
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : and because it's not a dynasty league (which makes a lot more sense to be ability to trade picks)
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Oh I know; I was just exploring and it blew my mind that you could trade picks because of the whole reordering thing
Mucky Tundra (4-Aug) : Zero, I think I preferred my offer: your 1st for my 15th rounder
