Am I the only one that thinks there's no chance in hell that Moss gets hire as the HC in St. Louis?

I also think "no chance in hell".

Well, I'd say he has about as good a chance as any of the other candidates, as none of them has an overwhelmingly good track record. The problem for him (and all of them) is that there are a lot of candidates and only one position. I notice that there is at least one other black coach being interviewed (the Vikings' DC) so we know that Moss is not being interviewed just to satisfy the NFL rule about interviewing at least one minority candidate.

Here is an excerpt from an article, in which the candidates are mentioned:

ST. LOUIS Former New York Giants coach Jim Fassel is among the candidates the St. Louis Rams could interview for their head coaching vacancy this week.

General manager Billy Devaney received clearance over the weekend to speak with Ravens defensive co-ordinator Rex Ryan, Vikings defensive co-ordinator Leslie Frazier, Dolphins secondary coach Todd Bowles and Cowboys wide receivers coach Ray Sherman.

Packers linebackers coach Winston Moss got the first interview on Saturday. Devaney hopes to have a new coach in place by Jan. 24, the date of the Senior Bowl.

Interim coach Jim Haslett, who ended the season on a 10-game losing streak but impressed Devaney with an upbeat approach, will be among the finalists. Devaney said recently he'd not make a change just for change's sake.

Getting back to the original topic, I don't see any indication that Woodson and Harris had any more effect on the coaching staff than one might expect from a couple of high caliber veteran players.

My opinion, for what it's worth is this:
Beacuse of the NFL mandates, clubs HAVE to interview black men for coach or they will get in trouble.

That bothers me for several reasons. The MAIN one is this:

Who knows how many of these "interviews" are set up JUST to fulfill the mandates? Is this FAIR to black men that THINK they have a legitimate shot at the job, only to be called in because of the color of their skin, with the team never really wanting them for the job in the 1st place?

Teams should be allowed to interview/hire whoever they want.

But like 99.9% of other "political correctness" B.S., all it is is "feel good" garbage thats means NOTHING.
If i was a black man looking to be a coach, i would ONLY want to be called in for an interview if i had a REAL shot at the job. Otherwise your just being used to fulfill some B.S. mandate to make someone "feel" like they are really DOING something.

Here is a thought:

What if the Packers intend to keep Moss as the Assistant HC, and have him be in charge of the defense (coordinating and calling it) from that position.

They hire a DC under him, someone who basically is a student that learns the finer points from Moss so that when Moss leaves as HC (somewhere 2-4 years down the line) the Packers have a replacement ready to go, and they don't miss a step.

It's sort of similar to what Denver did last year, where they had Jim Bates as the Assistant HC, and he called the defense while Bob Slowik was under him as the DC.

I think the interview requirement has been a good thing. The NFL, like many sports, has an old boys' network that has sometimes kept more talented people from rising to the top. The interview requirement does not force anyone to hire a black coach, but it at least gives these coaches an opportunity to get onto the playing field. Sometimes it turns out to be nothing more than a token interview, which sucks for everyone, but sometimes it allows a talented coach to impress an owner or GM. Even if he doesn't get the job, the word will get out that he interviewed well.
