I think that might be the most balanced poll yet on here... yes that situation would be instant drama..

Micheal Crabtree is on the board when the Packers are picking @ 9... would you draft him?

Yes. 30% (10)
No. 33.33% (11)
Trade the Pick away and drop down.36% (12)

Total Votes: 33

I voted for yes or the trade, can't recall. I would be fine with either though, and I can imagine more people around here that would go with either 1 and 3 or 2 and 3. What that adds to your point, i don't know, just wanted to mention that.

Honestly.. beyond the fact that I think he is the best player in this draft weak on blue chippers.. I want to see this scenario just for the pure reaction to it.. both by the Packers and the fans.

I think James Jones could be a No. 2 receiver one day. I think Jordy is going to be an excellent slot receiver as well and as early as this year, but neither of them compare to Michael Crabtree.

Jake Reed was very good for the Vikings, but they saw Randy Moss staring them in the face and they took him.

I would take Crabtree because he's the drafts best player and the draft is about the future. 10 years potentially with Crabtree, Jennings, and Rodgers would be outstanding except for the fact that all the Rodgers' naysayers would be saying it's all the receivers doing, but none the less it would be a lot of fun to watch.

I don't think it'll happen though.

A few points.

1) James Jones I think has the talent to be a #1 WR. WRs don't develop overnight. Look how long it took Driver, and look how good he is today. '09 is year #3 for Jones. Remember he started two games due to injury and the Packers didn't miss a beat.

2) I remember Reed, and yes he was good. But Randy Moss is a Hall of Famer. I know Crabtree is good, but saying he's the next Randy Moss, is that legit or is that a stretch?

3) I understand this argument. If he's there, grab him, and we can trade one of our other WRs.

4) How many people still hate Rodgers? Seriously. How many? He's won over most of the diehard Favre fans, myself included. Heck, I want to see Favre get surgery and play in '09, and what ever team he's on becomes my #2 team, but I still like Aaron Rodgers. I'm serious about the Favre thing. I truly believe had he not torn his bicep, he would have had a good shot at winning his 4th MVP. He was looking outstanding up until the last five games. But Rodgers was a blast to watch as well.

Defensive- and offensive line are our weak spots. So is OLB. Therefor, fans who aren't as deep into the games want a replacement directly and therefore they will get pissed if we'll go into the direction of a WR.

What Rockmolder said.

I know Crabtree is awesome, but I don't know if Ted Thompson can afford to take a guy like that when we could shore up our questionable tackle positions or defensive positions.

I really just want him to get drafted ahead of us so we don't have this type of conundrum. This is definitely a difficult position for a GM if a guy like this is available and your WR core is very, very good without him.

Part of our receiving corps is very good. Crabtree would be an incredible upgrade over Martin and probably over Martin and Jones combined.

Why would we trade down? Why wouldn't we just take the best position available? I sat here thinking about that. I don't see the logic. Unless it had an extra pick involved. BUT then its probably a significant drop. Which too doesn't make sense to me. I think we can take someone at 9 who will benefit us at SOME position.

I would just take the best player available. Regardless of position. Obviously I wouldn't take a QB or a position of no need. And you may argue that WR is of no need. But I don't agree.
