My point was that in the beginning the Pats hardly used free agency to nab players that put them over the hump..They picked up players for some depth..

As seasons went on that is when they filled needs right away with f/a and the 1st BIG name I recall was Adalius Thomas

Does that count undrafted free agents signed the year they came out? I think for all practical purposes those should count as players drafted. Or players who've never played for another team, if you will.

really dude, how many of the players listed actually have made an impact, 1 or two!!!!

i'll give you Jenkins, but he was injured last season. to list a bunch of defensive players on a team that had a losing season mainly because of the way the defense played, is just not a valid way to prove your point.

You won't name Woody? You're kidding, right?

Woody has a shot at the HoF. 36 career INTs, and seems to have not lost a step at all. 8 INTs/1TD in '06. '07, had a fumble recovered for a TD and an INT returned for a TD. 4 INTs total. '08, 3 sacks, 7 INTs, 2 TDs from those INTs.

Unlike Neon Deion who I adore and own his jersey, Woody can tackle. He's a damn good tackler in fact, and has averaged 63 tackles a season since joining our team. That's pretty impressive for a CB. He plays the run very well.

I'm so stoked we have Woody on our team and defended Ted Thompson when we picked him up and it turned out I was right. If Woody has 3 more seasons like the seasons he's had with us, he's got a more than 50/50 shot of making the Hall.

Gotta give you Woody and Pickett. If we could pick up 2 more FAs like that at positions of need, with our draft, we would turn around in a hurry.

Agreed. One solid guy on the DL who can generate pressure and take some double teams off of Kampy would make a world of difference.

The 2nd guy, I'd want on the OL, since you're talking positions of need.

the interesting fact i need to know is when can i expect the packers to return to the playoffs and compete for a championship??

Right now, i still do not see how Ted Thompson has made the packers a better team in 2009?

we hired a new defensive coordinator, so can I expect the defense to be better in 2009, and actually stop teams from scoring? does hiring a coordinator automatically make the packers better?

i don't think so, and if green bay posts another losing season, i think we need to take a look at Ted Thompson overall game plan.

with the defense and special teams playing so poorly, I have to seriously question the talent level and depth on the team. which is what another poster is trying to impress on the posters of this forum.

and there is only one person to point a finger at.

Have I ever mentioned how much I enjoy Hazer on this forum?

Hazer Has "A Beautiful Mind."

I love the guy! Great Internet radio (Check it out, I am serious.) and a great packer forum contributor.

Oh yes, he is out of his mind. But it is great.

It is like that movie.... "A Beautiful Mind" staring Russel Crow.

Hazer is in this shed in the back of his house, cutting out Packer stats, numbers and Packer atrticles, pasting them on the wall and talking to imaginary people.

Only Hazer see's the equation, not any one else.

But I love him personally. You just gotta love the guy!

Hazer has a beautiful mind.

Keep doing what you are doing my friend... R.P. loves you.

By this logic then signing Albert Haynesworth wouldn't of made the Packers better.

An upgrade is an upgrade know matter where it is. Whether it's in coaching or as backup players. Is Duke Preston and Anthony Smith upgrades? The answer is probably as they're better than the second stringers they're replacing. Is Dom Capers? I would say so.

I agree that the starters need upgrades, but you shouldn't dismissed an upgrade know matter what it might be.

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger

Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
