He played well last year. He was a playmaker. He might not be as good as people think. I certainly don't believe he's an elite safety, but he's a solid starter and for that reason, GB should be looking to keep him.

I'm probably more so looking at it like this. Who do we have that is better than Nick Collins for that position? He might not be a top five safety, but he's surely one of the two best ones we have, if not the best.

I'm fine with it until he starts skipping OTAs, then I will start to get upset. :whipitgood:

I have stated it before, franchise have no loyalties to its players due to it being a business. A player gets hurt and the team can cut them easily. This is just a player looking out for his long term future. Nick Collins is going into his last year of his deal and wants the Packers to AT LEAST talk to him about a new contract. I doubt it is as much about money and more about years, even though money sweetens it up a lil 😉

If this does become a money matter, as long as he doesn't take it to the media like Javon Walker and Mike McKenzie did and demand a trade, then I think he has every right to sit out.

He is as good as people make him out to be, and deserved that Pro Bowl start.

I used to be one of the people who dogged him, but to be clear, it was NOT because of his tackling. The guy can tackle. He can defend the run.

My beef was he would drop INTs. '08, he changed that, got 7, and ran 3 back for TDs.

I'd hate to lose this guy. He's far from reaching his peak.

The running joke for me with Nick Collins was he has to have two passes fall out of his hands before he starts racking up interceptions. It happened several times too!

I don't want to make it sound like I'm being critical of Nick Collins. I think he's a solid player and I want the Packers to sign him long term, but he did kind of struggle down the stretch last year and he shouldn't be paid as a top 5 safety. He's not that, but he is worth more than he's making right now and the Packers not talking to him is ridiculous on their part. I think it's a slap in the face in some ways.

It wasn't about him wearing the Pro Bowl jersey, it was about all the other guys in the Pro Bowl he was playing with saying how he's not paid like a Pro Bowl player.

Andrew Brandt said it himself--he hates it when his own guys go to the Pro Bowl.

C'mon guys. Let's wait to hear something from Nick's own mouth before we start piecing together what's going on with him.
