I agree with bigbyfan. He would be a capable starter on any team, judging from last season. But he needs to prove he can do that year in and year out. So give him a 2-3 million per year deal for a few years. I'm sure they aren't asking for much more.

Like I said in the Grant deal, this is a huge issue in the CBA.. UDFA that actually can play get penalized and the Players Union sucked off the highly drafted against those that "earn" their way into the league.

It sucks, but it is the CBA.

I think Harrell should give part of his "unearned" contract to Williams.. he is one of the types stealing his money in this CBA.

Personally, I think the Packers shouldn't look to follow the CBA to a tee in this case, where a player has done it the right way, and take care of them regardless if they have to. It is one of the things that will attract more UDFA post draft and increase the chances of having more players of this ilk.

Ones that player the game for the game, work hard and develop into solid to good players.. it is an untapped avenue to increase the chances of finding those gems.

Ryan Grant actually played well for half a season.

As far as I can tell, Tramon Williams played well for 1/3 of a season, and mediocre for the rest. I don't think he deserves to hold out, or has the weight to press the Packers on the matter.

I think someone smart once said...

"You don't pay players for what they have done, you pay them for what yet they are going to do."

Tramon has all the tools, I can't speak to his attitude as I am not around him daily.. but if it is in the right frame, you keep players that are entering their prime.

Just to let you guys know, Tramon Williams is not the one saying he wants more money, this is all his agent (according to the article).

I think we should give him a small contract, but nothing huge like starters money.

I agree with the article I read or the blog and that is that the Packers need to get back on course. I think Tramon Williams has the tools to be a No. 2 corner, but they can't give in and give money to every player in house that wants more money.

Although if he stays quiet about this all year, then I could see something done. I don't agree with the philosophy that is trade me or pay me. I think that's when you make the player sit.

I don't think Williams is in any position of power to demand a new deal or anything, Grant was in a better position after single handedly upgrading our rush attack in 07 while being the only somewhat proven running back as at the time Brandon Jackson and DeShawn Wynn had only shown flashes and were either inconsistent or struggling with injuries. Williams doesnt have the same luxuries with Harris and Woodson both back in action for this season so he probably won't reap the same rewards, at least not as soon as Grant did.

I could be wrong, but this is coming off more like an Agent trying to make a name for himself. Of course, this agent could be 'someone' already. That was just my initial feeling on it after reading his quotes.

well he's going to have to get a new deal if the Packers want him to play football this year.

Jennings, Collins and then worry about the rest. Tramon, sit down, shut up and wait your turn. Jennings and Collins unsigned, don't even think you're gonna be put ahead of them.

I do like Tramon, and hope this is just agent talk, not him.
