As Andrew Brandt has said, you can sign any player, but you have to ask yourself at what cost and is that cost worth that player?

Heard on the radio this morning.. Packers contacting Kevin Burnett, OLB, Cowboys..

http://www.nfl.com/players/kevinburnett/profile?id=BUR414018

http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/40694367.html

As thin as the Green Bay Packers are on the defensive line, it should never be forgotten that their priority in building a successful 3-4 defensive scheme is to find playmakers at the outside linebacker positions.

It is there where 3-4 teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers have stocked up on well-rounded athletes who can both rush the passer and drop into coverage.

To that end, the Packers are eyeing a couple of free agents who could offer instant help, the most notable being Dallas linebacker Kevin Burnett, a former second-round draft choice who will be entering his fifth season in 2009. Of all the remaining linebackers, Burnett might have the most potential because of his athleticism and untapped ability.

According to an NFL source, the Packers have strong interest in Burnett but have not set up a visit yet, possibly because the former University of Tennessee linebacker was in Oakland Tuesday and will be in San Diego Wednesday. Two other teams are interested in bringing in Burnett, but have not yet set up official visits.

Once again Ted Thompson sits on his hands and hopes that Oakland and SD blow it and Burnett has no other choice but to goto GB.

Like i have said lets just go in with the players we draft and line up and decide TT's destiny.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Again......as i stated earlier in this thread........just because Ted Thompson doesn't tell us everything he is doing behind closed doors, doesn't mean he's doing nothing!!!!
Why can't some people understand that?

If you ever play poker, do you take your hand of cards and show it around to everyone???

Yeah......makes just as much sense........

Again........is this "source" inside the inner workings at Lambeau Field?
If not, it's pure SPECULATION!

I love that when someone can spout "An NFL source" like that really means something.

I particularly love this line........"to flaunt your supposed superiority for all to see"

Uh.....ok. The guy IS the boss, makes decisions that are HIS job to make. Then all the wannabe's second guess his every move, and call that "arrogance".
He gives his coaches a few days off................"OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!"

How DARE he treat his coaches decent and give them a couple days to themselves, before the whole thing ramps up.
OHHHH!!!! the ARROGANCE!!!!!

He should be working them 24/7! So that they can learn to HATE their jobs, and HATE working for the Green Bay Packers! THAT would show them who's boss, right????

Geez.....mind boggling.

Packz No i did not write that article because i would never admit in public that i was behind Ted Thompson you should know that. But it was fun reading how people are starting to turn on TT.

You are welcome to come back from the dark side, I have plenty of room over here and btw my train isn't on a crash course 😛

Everyone has known for the past year who the free agents are going to be. All 32 teams pretty much have known for the past three months what their current needs are.

In other words, the Packers, and everyone else, already know what they're going to do when the window for free agency opens.

What the Packers have been doing only reflects their decisions made months ago.

Only those into gossip and creating drama are unable to figure that out.

the night Canty started free agency

Blank is Cantys agent...I am going to post interesting quotes from the article and someone please tell me whats odd

In this case, Blank made it clear to anyone asking that he expected the money to come in between $6 million and $8 million a year, hopefully closer to eight.

So.....He made it clear that the money was 6-to 8 mill...

Good......then the Packers still wanted and did schedule a visit..Which to me and every noodle head means they are willing to pay at LEAST that..

Giants said they still were interested, and Green Bay called back to schedule a Monday visit. By Sunday afternoon, with his client in New York, Blank was seeing momentum toward a contract; he didn't want Canty to get on a plane to Green Bay because his experience in the business told him that if the kid got on the plane, the Giants offer could vanish in a New York minute.

The Giants got to six years, $41 million. That's it, they said; if you don't want it, good luck on your trip to Green Bay.

Blank called Canty, who was in the Giants offices in New Jersey. "You've got to draw the line somewhere,'' Canty said, "and I want to draw it at $7 million a year. That's what we get, or I go to Green Bay.''

Then the agent tells the press that the Packers wouldnt come in with a number?

Ummmmm wtf???

Blank said starting price was 6 mill and the Packers actually said bring him in..

But the agent wants to be a DICK and get an actual number?

And no where in Peters article did he say that Blank called the Packers back and said this is the # we need..That might be illegal but he had no issue telling teams the starting point, why not say that has changed.

LT the NFL is a now league, the players want the money now, Ted Thompson doesn't do the now thing and you know that , I mean c'mon we are still building for the future. But as far as the Canty thing it's done and over with and Ted Thompson dropped the ball once again. OH Well i'm curious to see how the draft goes.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
