With Rouse inconsistent and injured, the Packers had to move Woodson to strong safety for three games.
If Bigby doesn't come back to form in 2009, the Packers may consider Woodson for the position, although it seems they would rather keep him at cornerback.
"I would say his natural position is definitely corner, and I think he's an excellent nickel player in sub defenses, because he has the ability to get his hands on the receiver," McCarthy said of Woodson. "He's an excellent bump-and-run player, plays a lot of instincts. I think he's definitely built for corner. I think he's played well at safety for us."
Also on the roster at safety is Charlie Peprah, who was a fifth-round pick of the New York Giants in 2006 and picked up on waivers at the end of training camp that year.
Jarrett Bush also saw time at safety. Bush was a nickel back in 2007 but was beaten out for that spot by Tramon Williams in 2008. Bush did not play regularly as a cornerback and struggled at times in 2007 where injuries forced him into the lineup. His future may be at safety if he's going to remain in Green Bay.
