I still think its cool that AARON RODGERS talked with MICHAEL IRVIN about some things. I was glad to hear that he is itching to get back on the field already, as a TEAM. That says a lot to me and I'm forking PUMPED!!

Re. Radio Row, can we first figure out how many PR people accompany players there? Was Rodgers the only one walking around with some support behind him? I highly, highly doubt it.

This speculation just sounds bizarre and out of place. Favre was great while he was here, but guess what, he's not a Packer anymore. I want to see him play well (or maybe just retire now), but I have absolutely no allegiance to him, and neither does/should the Packers front office.

I know who you mean......
Now.....isn't it possible the person you quoted just MIGHT have some bias, because of who he is?
Plus, where did he get that info? I bet he heard it directly from Favre......who may THINK that that is the case, but is it REALLY?

If it came from someone not personal buddies with Favre, it would make it more believeable for me. But i doubt that the person you are speaking of would say ANYTHING that might show Favre in a bad light.

Never said he based it on fact..

It is his opinion..

but given that he probably has had to deal with the PR there and what they tell the players, one would assume he has a good guess.

However it still doesnt mean it is all true :thumbright:

Here is the thing though, that really makes me wonder on this whole deal.

Brett has an ego, that much has been clear since the late 90's.. but honestly any competitive person will have one.

But look at Brett's track record of 17 years. He bled for his team and teammates, took stands against players holding out under contract and maybe took what a handful of plays off in his career.

He did many act of kindness and charity around this area and never heard him put anyone down. Some say he was stuck up and wouldn't sign autographs.. come on... tell me after a days worth of work on your way out of the job, you would want to stop and sign autographs before jumping in your car daily? And being around training camp for years, some people are just plain rude about it.. for me personally, if a kid is asking, I probably would stop and sign..

Now, I don't agree with everything that Brett has done in the past year or so.. but to flip on the switch and turn him into Packer enemy number one just doesn't fly with me either.

Don't think the Packers would smear someones name to offset some of the criticism from them and their disappointing season? Is it really that big of a stretch? Not going out and hunting it down and forcing the issue, but if the opportunity comes along.. yeah I could see a barb here or there.

Personally, it is over, Rodgers and anyone else talking on the Packers behalf shouldn't be talking about Brett period.

Let the issue die, focus on 2009 and come to camp ready to freaking hit anything in sight with a passion to erase the 2008 taste and grasp victory by the hand again.

Just let it go.

Exactly. Let it go. Just because Rodgers has PR guys with him on radio row and the media just HAPPENS to ask Rodgers non-stop about Favre this and Favre that, it doesn't mean the Packers organization is vilifying Favre. The claim is absurd.

Of course they should let it go. So should ESPN and Mortensen and the lot of 'em. But you know they won't.

The only thing about this thread that's bothering me is the sense that people might think Rodgers was all "Hey, I'm going to go do some interviews! Fun!" It seems probable that the Packers' PR folks wanted him to do interviews - furthermore, there's no doubt in my mind that they KNEW he'd be asked about Favre, probably more than any other topic. When you add it up, it would seem that they wanted him to answer questions about Favre - if you don't think he was coached before hitting Radio Row, I hope you don't work in PR. Now, whether they were purposely trying to make Brett look like a jerk, I don't know - I'm not a mind-reader. But there's no way they didn't see it coming, and there's no way they didn't coach the kid up beforehand, unless they're just the worst backwater PR staff in the NFL.

Personally, I think that was a horrible idea. But I also don't think it was Rodgers' idea, so any heat put on him for this is misplaced.

The PR staff needs to "sell" Rodgers as hard as they can, or they will have a vacuum in GB after that last QB. It's a credit to Rodgers that they think he is worth selling so hard. As a PR person, I'd want to get him out there. You know he will have to deal with the Favre questions, but you want him to become a presence in the eyes of the media and the national fan base.

No one needs to sell Aaron Rodgers. If people can't find positives in his play from last season, get lost.

Then why have a PR staff?

Theoretically, I agree with you. Rodgers is great and I like him far more than I thought possible a year or two ago.

wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
