The lawsuit was filed Friday afternoon. In it, Irvin asks a judge to award him more than $100 million. He says the woman is trying to extort money from him.
In the lawsuit, Irvin claims that the woman first went to Florida police in 2007, shortly after the alleged rape occurred. But the lawsuit claims the woman signed two waivers of prosecution, and says the police department stopped investigating the case.
Next week, the state attorney's office in Broward County, Florida, is expected to look into possible criminal charges against Irvin in connection with the rape.
