It is now January 12th.

You have the chance to go back in time to last year and change the Packers Record.

BASE YOUR VOTE ON TODAY'S DATE. YOU ONLY HAVE TWO CHOICES.

Now... Vote in the poll.

JUST TWO CHOICES.

The Bears Record and draft Pick.

Or .... Packers record and draft Pick.

Didn't take me half a second to choose. If you miss the playoffs anyway, who cares whether you're 6-10 or 9-7? The result is the same.

Just looking at it like this, I'm going with 6-10.

I would've liked to sweeped the Vikings and the Bears though, but that would have left us at 8-8.

I look at it this way, finishing off 9-7 maybe the team has a bit of momentum going into next season. Sure its disappointing to be out of the playoffs, but i think it would be a better situation for the players and the organization. Maybe the defense came together at the end and the entire D coaching staff doesnt need to be shuffled. Not that i'm a huge fan of sanders, but at this point who knows if it will turn out to be a great move for next yet.

I'd take the 9-7.

I really believe success breeds more success, and 9-7 is heck of a lot more successful than 6-10.

More importantly though, a 9-7 team would be a heck of a lot more attractive than a 6-10 team. Whenever a player looks at the Packers this off-season, they aren't going to come out saying 'hm, they shouldn't have been a 6-10 team, there not that far away'...

For example, last off-season I'd think signing Chillar had something to do with Chillar liking the direction the team was going. If I'm not mistaken, Chillar said he was tired of being in a losing environment, he wanted a team that was successful, hence he chose the Packers over the Cardinals (oh, the irony!).At this moment, with a 6-10 finish, it'd be a lot harder to convince a FA that has to decide between the Packers and team X.

6-10: 3 of the 4 years Ted has been the Packers GM, Packers haven't had winning records.

9-7: first year QB, a 13-3 season a couple of years ago, the team is still headed in the right direction.

IMO that's a dramatic shift in the image of the Packers as they currently are to an outsider.

I'm fine splitting with the Vikings. But I really, really wanted to sweep da Bears and beat the Cows. Those 2 games are the ones that hurt the most.

To answer RP though, 9-7 fo shizzle. Losing seasons are losing seasons. That's something only Lions fans are comfortable having.

There is a verse in the Bible that says, "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot. Since you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I am going to spit you out of my mouth." (Revelations 3:15-16 ISV). I'd rather have a team that is unambiguously bad than a team that is frustratingly mediocre. Poor performance necessitates a call for accountability, which leads to change. Mediocrity merely breeds apathy and complacency.

Had we gone 9-7, we probably wouldn't have any significant coaching changes, and we very likely would have stuck with the same bland system going into next season. We also would probably have been inactive in free agency and unaggressive in the draft. By having to endure a bad season, the limelight was brought to bear upon the fundamental problems that have gradually been accumulating over the last few seasons, and a lot of eyes were opened. I have no doubt that we will see renewed vigor from the Packers organization in the coming months, and that gives me hope going forward.

GREAT post!
9-7 might have kept everyone "happy", and not wanting to go out and "fix" things.
Now they HAVE to.

I chose 6-10 simply because we wouldn't have been in the playoffs even if we were 9-7, and we have a chance to get some elite talent in the draft. As mentioned before, we would probably keep Bob Sanders if we would have went 9-7. Also, Ted Thompson will probably go after a couple FAs to shore up some positions that need some depth.

I chose 6-10 season because the way d-line was playing even if we got into playoffs wouldn't want to be like vikes in and out, plus we need a new d-line coach who isn't afraid to change the scheme if needed.
