AKamp--I wish I would have seen this sooner. I work for the guy who's starting up a new football team in La Crosse that Gilbert Brown is going to coach--The La Crosse Spartans. They are holding tryouts on the 10th and 11th of October in La Crosse and you can sign up on their website: http://lacrossespartans.com/ . I'm actually the one that does a lot of the website work so I built the tryout form you'd be signing up with (not that anyone cares :P).

Also they're a part of the IFL: goifl.com

By all means you should try out for the Spartans. I think with your stats, you'd have a great chance of making the team. If you decide to make the trip, send me a PM and I'll buy you a beer, show you around town.

DJ- thanks for the info. I would have to talk to my agent about this but the other problem with this would be the drive and timing of the tryouts. I would have to remain in Chicago as of right now which is about a 5 hour drive from La Crosse.

I thought Gilbert Brown was coaching a Milwaukee team? Milwaukee Bonecrushers?

Edit* Damn how timing is everything.

He was. The guy I work for was the GM of the Bonecrushers but there were ownership issues so the team went under. Gilbert wants to coach again and now the guy I work for is both GM and Co-Owner of the Spartans so it's setup to be a much more successful franchise.

And yes I apologize for not letting you know about the tryouts earlier, it is a lot to ask for you to be there in three days. However, they have a number you can call and, I can't guarantee anything but they might let you schedule a workout or something later in the week. I mean, it's worth a try because I think you might have a good shot at making the team.

Whew, I had to dig for this thread! Anyways, just wanted to let you all know I will be attending the Elite Pro Football Combine in Chicago on June 6th, 2010. This sets up a huge opportunity for me and gives me some more time on training.

Here is the link if you want to check it out. Elite Pro Football Combine

I am also trying to get into a few pro days around the area, but at 25 years old something tells me I would feel foolish attending one of these....thats just the way I think. :thumbright:

Thanks! I am working extremely hard. The hardest thing about this is losing all the weight I gained to play offensive line. My eating habits went down the drain and now I am trying to change that.
I am going to see if the event in Chicago is the same as the event at Lucas Oil Stadium....I am thinking the one in Indy is bigger since it is also a 2 day event.

dfosterf (26-Jun) : I think it would be great to have someone like Tom Grossi or Andy Herman on the Board of Directors so he/they could inform us
dfosterf (26-Jun) : Fair enough, WPR. Thing is, I have been a long time advocate to at least have some inkling of the dynamics within the board.
wpr (26-Jun) : 1st world owners/stockholders problems dfosterf.
Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy

dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
