Didn't the niners suck with him as HC?? Why would we want that at defensive coordinator. Lets get someone good

Didn't Mike McCarthy struggle with the Niners as a OC.. but took us one game short of the Superbowl last year?

DC to HC is like apples to oranges.. kinda like my argument against Moss as the DC.. I would accept him in the new role even though based on the Backers performance over his watch has been up and down.. more leaning to the down.

BTW.. with this news flashing that Mike McCarthy is throwing out a wide cast net, one must really wonder if retaining Moss is nothing more than a favor at this point to him. Can't be overly attractive to have a Backer and Assistant HC hanging over an incoming DC. Just a thought.

After some thought, I am fine with whatever scheme they choose to run, both have been proven to be effective with the right gent running the show.. and of all the names being kicked around.. I am fine with any of the choices.. this Johnson fellow, need to read more about him though...

Anyway.. point being, we need to wrap this up, set a direction and get the scouting staff hopping on fits talent wise along the D front seven and offensive line to the direction..

Regardless of whom takes over, we need an influx of the proper talent.. whether that is draft picks or FA.

Let's Roll this offseason.

I agree that either scheme is ok as long as the man in charge knows what hes doing. I like that Mike is looking for someone who isn't locked into one style. But I don't agree that we need to go ahead and get this process over with.

Take your time. Get the right guy for the job. Don't base the decision on anything but how well he can preform in Green Bay. Not time, not money, not anything but his ability. If that means waiting till the playoffs are over, so that every candidate is available... then so be it.

Gregg Williams seems a little bit more of a sexy pick than Nolan. I just want pressure from whoever we sign.

Mike Nolan was hired late Sunday night / early Monday morning by new Broncos HC Josh McDaniels to become the DC of the Broncos, reports Adam Schefter.

So that's one name off the list.

Sweet. I had an uneasy feeling about Nolan.

Okay, Nolan is off the board, I'm fine with that.

According to Williams' agent Williams has a "strong interest" in the New Orleans DC job.

McDermott can't interview until the Eagles are eliminated which could be 3 weeks if they go to the SB.

Moss is still on board but interviewing for HC jobs.

This process could take much longer than expected which isn't a good sign.

McDermott's departure can be easily blocked by the Eagle's FO, if the job offer is anything less than a HC position. He has another year on his contract. I don't think we, or any other team, should count on McDermott.

We can get around that easily enough my making him the Defensive Coordinator/Asst Head Coach. like we did with Moss.

Or is there some rule prohibiting having two Asst Head Coaches?

Anyway, I'm glad the Broncos got Nolan. I felt good about him at first, but I think that was just because his last name wasn't Sanders...

Well Nolan and the Broncos played this one close to the vest, eh? A few days ago a number of reporters were saying that GB was Nolan's only option, and that there were no other rumors out there about other teams being interested.

since69, I could be wrong on this, but I thought the only way to assure that the eagles would be unable to block the move is to make mcdermott the HC. that is what I think i heard, so i certainly could be wrong on that.
