DeAndre Hopkins isn’t walking through the door tomorrow, so Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs are going to have to produce and lead like veterans.

“It’s strange,” being the veteran of the group, Doubs said, “but it can't be strange. And I know for some it can be strange, but in this room, I have no choice but to step up. I have to lead by example and make sure my expectations, not just on the field but off the field, remain high so I can be the example for the rookies coming in. I’m excited for it.”

Life happens fast in the NFL.

At this time last year, Watson, Doubs and Samori Toure were drafted rookies on a depth chart with some veteran pedigree. Watson and Doubs, being second- and fourth-round draft picks, were expected to be early contributors while learning on the fly behind proven veterans Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb.

They could always bring in a veteran, who the young guys could look at, how to do your thing, how to be a pro, etc. Then cut that guy at the end of training camp.

I just don't think there's any good WR out there worth signing though because you're going to want someone who's familiar with your offensive system and will be inexpensive. Randall Cobb would have been a good option, but no way was he re-signing with Packers over Jets with Aaron Rodgers.

I'm not sure how good he still is, but one guys still out there, that has a reputation of being a great leader and willing to help and teach others is Jarvis Landry. Though he hasn't had an 850 yard season since 2019, but he's also had some poor QB play at times. And injuries the last two seasons. But if we're talking about simply picking his brain, maybe we can sign him to the PS with one of the vet PS spots.

HOWEVER, I would take DeAndre Hopkins on a one year prove it deal. Let's not get it twisted, Hopkins is not coming here. I was just using the name as in if it's a great WR or former great WR I could see it.

The obvious eligible FA wr who is available right now is of course.........Sammy Watkins.

Checks all the boxes..

I think Lefleur is confident Watson, Daubs and Toure can be the leaders.

I would much rather bring back "Big Dog" for 1 more year, to help the TE's.

In reality it looks like The Packers are going to stay with what they have.

Still early in the process.
