Quite interesting hearing Charles Robinson's THOUGHTS on this.

Aforementioned QB's for 2024 Caleb Williams and Drake Maye
Jets also think two QB's in 2024 are studs for sure, and don't wanna lose 1st round in case Rodgers flops.
Jets framework 3rd this year, 1st next year when they flew out to Aaron Rodgers. Per Charles Robinson
Jets owner is the one holding up deal. Apparently Rodgers saying 90% retired spooked him. Per Charles Robinson

Charles comes on around 35:45 mark.

The general story as a whole, I can buy it that the owner was assuming Rodgers would play for multiple years and then got scared, etc etc.

But some of the more specific issues, like the Rams situation worrying the Jets owner ... the Rams won a Superbowl! If the Jets won a Superbowl the fans would be okay with dismantling it... as they were last in the playoffs in 2010, losing to the Steelers whom lost to the Packers in the Super Bowl.

The Jets went to the playoffs in 6 of Woody Johnson's first 11 years owning the Jets and then 0 out of the last 12. And he's not a young man... one would think he's itching to win again and Woody himself has stated he's "anxious".

I could be totally wrong, but I feel (just feel, don't know) that the Jets are just using Woody as an excuse trying to play hard ball, like maybe he refuses to give up a 1st. But I think Woody badly wants Rodgers.

Also, if this entire story is to be true, then they're already given up completely on Zach Wilson, which previously the story was they want a vet QB for like two years and Wilson will be ready by then.

And there are so many ways around this, such as

Packers get the Jets picks between #20 - #51 so if Jets make the playoffs, Packers get a 1st rounder, if the Jets don't, then it's a 2nd rounder. (Or if Jets must reach the 2nd round of the playoffs then picks #24 - #55)

Or Jets give the Packers two 2nd and two 3rd... that actually might be more value than the 1st and 3rd.

Or Jets give the Packers three 2nd picks, which I'm surprised some NFL.com mocks had mocking the Jets giving both their 2023 2nd round picks to the Packers for Rodgers, which is odd as that hasn't been rumored and usually official news network mocks are conservative with trades and either just doing what's publicly rumored or not doing them at all.

Or hell, offer the Packers your 1st, 2nd and 3rd draft picks from 2025 if you're truly set in going fully all in the next two years. And if there isn't a trade before the draft ends, then maybe that's what they'll do, trade picks from the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

But the Jets already have Zach Wilson, I doubt their eyeing Rodgers and drafting a QB in 2024, unless they're ready to get Wilson (which they claim they're not, but you wouldn't say otherwise even if you were)

I feel like there is more to this, that we'll probably never know.

Sometimes I check out the random headlines around sports. I kind of knew that with Charles giving his THOUGHTS, it would be taken as REPORT. This is no different than we see every damn time. Then fans get all up in their panties with dumb ass expectations. Hell, it happened just a month ago with Adam Schefter giving what he plainly said was OPINION and even days later came on McAfee Show to say "I gave my opinion, but unfortunately since I'm 'me' a reporter, it gets taken as a report" I'm paraphrasing there.

Like i said in another thread, they have the upper hand. Rodgers has to agree on the team he is playing for and GB pretty much named Love the starter this coming season. So unless we wanna pay Rodgers 60 mil to hold a clipboard, packers are gonna have to take whatever is given to them. Expect to hear the trade during draft IMO

Its kind of like every Packer fan when a wide receiver hits the open market and is all but signed by the Packers and things never happen and people hate the GM because he never got Rodgers any help.  The Packers don't have to do anything until the 1st week of the season if they don't want to.  The Jets on the other hand are not going to make a run at the playoffs with Zack Wilson lol.  I actually like the trade I read of the 2 2nds this year and a conditional 2nd next year and if Rodgers plays it turns to a 1st.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

What if......
The deal is basically already done, but both Teams don't want to reveal anything until draft day.
The Jets may want to see what they can get for the 13th pick.
Nobody knows how the draft is going to fall.
Would it be so bad if The Jets find a trade partner and swaps with a team at around 20-25 and could pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd pick .
Would it  be so bad for The Packer to have the 15th and the 20th-25th pick plus  what has already been agreed upon in rounds 2-7?
This is the season of misinformation.

Would you trade Aaron for let's say the 22nd pick plus a 2nd ?

Just thinking a little different.

Packers get
Jets 2023 2nd round 42nd overall
Jets 2023 2nd round 43rd overall
Jets 2024 2nd round (moves to first if Rodgers plays in 2023)

Jets get
39 year old 90% retired Aaron Rodgers

Nah, that's too much for Jets to give up. Maybe same deal but just one of the 2023 2nd rounders, but you're not gonna give up three 2nd round picks for a guy to play one year for your team. The only way Rodgers plays lights out is if Garrett Wilson is closer to Davante Adams than Allen Lazard was. And since Rodgers and new WR's don't really mesh too well together until 2nd season together or later -- it's not really good business by Jets.

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
