Yup, the actions of drafting Love and extending Rodgers are a contradiction. Pack either messed up with the former or the latter. The question is how best to salvage the screwup. The more I think about it, the more it speaks to why they probably won't play Love at all. My guess is that Murphy and Gute care more about looking bad then what benefits the team. Might as well keep Rodgers out there. Or maybe you put in Love and just run vanilla for the draft pick and ruin Love's career but I don't want to speculate too far.

After seeing Jordan Love in practice through 2020 and 2021 and extending Aaron Rodgers to that massive contract? 😬 That says they don't believe Love is there yet, or they believe Love will just be happy backing up Rodgers throughout his rookie contract.
Based on what Gutekunst has done, I really don't think he gives a damn about looking bad. If he did care, the Packers wouldn't have released a 4th round pick after just one season.
I'll walk that back a little and say I do agree with you though that barring some cleverly worded story, they won't bench Rodgers in favor of Love due to the optics.
