If the Packers don't make the playoffs next year, he's gone in my opinion and I'm not sure developing from within is going to be fast enough to save his job.

Here's where I think you hit the nail on the head.

It's not fair, necessarily, but given the past offseason and the team's overall relapse this year, I don't think he's got time to get things done the way he wants to. If they don't succeed (make the playoffs at the very least) next year, I think you can almost guarantee that Thompson and McCarthy will be fired.

That's why I'm leaning towards the opinion that he'll step out of character and make a real effort to stir things up in FA this year - if the general consensus that we're really only a few pieces away from being a contender is correct, I think he's going to have to find pieces that pay off right away or he won't be around to see what happens after this next season.

I don't think Thompson is easily panicked, however. I don't think he will make any sweeping changes that put the future salary cap position of the Packers in jeopardy.

Haynesworth just limped off the field with what looks like a knee injury. I bet this reduces the chances Thompson will chase him in the offseason, and I can't say I'm sorry about that. I don't trust Haynesworth, neither his physical health nor his character.

And came back on the field the very next play... not writing him off for that, neither should TT

I'd like to have a guy on our team that I could legitimately call Fat Albert...

Haynesworth returned on the next play. Kearse got driven away by a hearse though.

Ted Thompson will go after Haynesworth even harder now. He likes the injury proned players look at Bustin lol.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I'm convinced now that Ted will sit back the first couple of weeks, then go out and sign a player or two in free agency to add some quality depth. He'll put an emphasis on getting young talent to help out, through the draft of course.

And after all that is said and done, I think it'll be a team that'll have a shot at 10 wins, maybe more if they can get on a roll and build some confidence.

Ted has built a nice collection of talent, the team is talented; to blame Ted for a 6-10 isn't totally fair. Yes the roster had mistakes, but I think last year proved Ted's vision of how to build a winner is a darn good one.

Zero2Cool (9h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (9h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (12h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (13h) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job

Zero2Cool (13h) : Thank you
wpr (14h) : Z, glad you are feeling better.

Zero2Cool (14h) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (14h) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (14h) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (14h) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (14h) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (15h) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (15h) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (15h) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic

Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Bears are finalizing a deal to hire Ben Johnson as their head coach. (via @tompelissero )
