The three posts before this one were all excellent.
First off, I appreciate the confidence Engineer and Packers39 showed in T-Jacks future. Earlier this season I would agree with you guys, 100%. I'm really starting to think that Jackson is just another Quincy Carter or Akili Smith. All three were/are essentially pass-first-but-mobile QBs. Jackson seems to do VERY well when he has confidence. He showed this against the Lions, Cardinals and to an extent, the Falcons (in that 3 game stretch, T-Jack's QB rating was an impressive 125.9, and his rating for the last three games of the season was 107.5). But the thing with a starting QB is he needs to be able to have that 'bounce-back ability'. From what I can see, T-Jack doesn't have it. I'm not necessarily calling for his head. I think the Vikings offensive woes are due to a combination of a few things; the lack of creative playcalling, clock management, inconsistent QB play, and the inability to successfully make adjustments are the main ones I came up with. While I want to believe that he can be a solid starting QB for my team (believe me, I WANT it to be true sooo bad. I love a mobile QB), right now, after 3 years of can-he; can't-he, my hope and faith in Jackson is dwindling. I'm a season from saying he's a career back-up.
Second, I was thinking about what this Viking team would have done this year with Favre at the helm. I tend to think they would probably end up with the same 10-6 record, even though Favre would win some games, he'd lose some as well. But, in the playoffs, I think he would've been the difference maker. All because he would have a run game. In his career in GB and in NY, defenses have almost ALWAYS schemed against Favre. With Adrian as his RB, I think opposing defenses would have to pick their poison. Or play to their strength as a defensive unit, as opposed to either stopping AD/Favre. With that in mind, and barring on at least semi-solid offensive line play, the Vikings would have been a legitimate threat in this years playoffs.
In short, I know having Favre on the Vikings only delays the inevitable. Which is finding an average to great QB to run the team. But if an NFC Championship or better for a year or two is highly attainable, I would've sacrificed the QB search/trial.
Thanks to TheViking88 for the sig!!
