The pre-draft process has been turned upside down, due to the pandemic. For prospects, team visits and private workouts have yielded to video chats with multiple teams, on multiple occasions. Teams can speak to an unlimited number of prospects, up to three times per week for an hour per chat.ย And Alabama defensive tackle Raekwon Davis [more]

That said I wouldn't mind it if Davis is still available in the 2nd round and GB selected him. According to a composite of a number of Big Boards, he's ranked #63 and they are drafting at 62. He's not much of a pass rusher but he's pretty decent at stopping the run. After watching the SF games it's apparent that GB needs another run stopper in the middle of the line.

I honestly don't think it's that simple, as the Packers defensive scheme is all about attacking the passing game.

They already got a great run stuff and the best NT in the NFL in Kenny Clark. But since they released Daniels, Clark has been asked to play penetrating DT.

What I think they need is a stud penetrating DT that allows the team to move Clark back to the run stuffer role.

Though the run defense will always be weak as long as they're going on an all out attack on the passing game.

And I don't think getting run stuffers for a penetratoring pass rushing scheme is a great fit.

Also it's said Raekwon Davis comes with great maturity questions, which is a bad sign as Bama runs a very tight ship and those with maturity concerns have struggled when allowed more losses and freedom that the Union forces the teams to give their players, and it's been disappointing Davis hasn't developed into more.

When the Packers drafted three CB's because of Randy Moss, at least that was a team they knew they'd face twice a season, maybe three.

Scout the talent. Draft best talent. GM work is easy! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜

In addition, I am not saying to take him merely/solely because of SF, without regard for any other team. I used the SF run game as an illustration. To be expedient, I didn't mention the Eagles game as another example. They racked up 176 yards on the ground on a whopping 33 attempts.

I also didn't mention if SF and Philly know to run the ball, other teams will do it too. Past performance is not indicator of future results but the teams GB faces in 2020 will include SF #2 run offense. Tennessee #3, Minnesota (2) # 6, Indy #7 and Houston #9. That's 6 games against top 10 rushing teams. (Based on 2019 stats.) Some teams will fall others will move up. It is something Gute will address in some manner.

We're a team that is wanting to get after the QB and slow down or stop the pass. The running game is secondary. Yes, the 49ers ripped the Packers up twice big time running the ball. Is that something that can be corrected via scheme? I think so. I don't think we need run stoppers. If the Packers offense did anything at all, the 49ers wouldn't have been able to run over and over and over again. They would have had to pass the ball.

I'm saying, I am not worried about the run defense. I'm worried about the offense and getting after the QB.

In the end it doesn't really matter Davis will not make it to 62 anyway.

Zero2Cool (1-Apr) : uh oh
