Plain and simple this year Ted Thompson is on the hotseat he knows it and so does MM. Thus the different style of drafting, he is grasping and hoping. I say if its another losing season Mike McCarthy should be gone, because as much as i hate Ted Thompson everyone knows the HC always gets canned first (look at the Lions and Matt Millen) but if we have 2 losing seasons in a row they have to look at TT's head on the block.

About my post that Zero got all pissy about, I made that post because people are saying Mike McCarthy changed the play calling and i wanted to point out he doesn't always call the plays. He has said he sends in 2 plays a run/pass option its on the qb to make the call. It wasn't meant to be a diss on anyone just stating thats what he does.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I wouldn't say 'hot seat' so much as 'seat that better start fucking producing'. I'd like to say they are feeling the heat, but I think the higher ups are in high faith of Ted and Mike. I'm trying to be, but ... after 6 - 10 after a 13 - 3 ... just makes it a tad hard for me at times.

btw, that is wrong about sending in two plays. It's one play with the option of an out to the run/pass whichever was not the primary play call. At least that's what I heard Mike say.

dh?

Again your saying something as fact..

I know there are SOME plays that have that option, but NOT every single play has that option.

Now if you have a link proving it is every play by all means shut us up with it

A good example is I heard the play we threw the pick against the Giants in... was a run play that McCarthy did not want changed. Brett saw something and changed the play. I think that play, if a little better throw would have been for six for us.

I'd have to watch it again to say for sure though. I don't know if the safety had the over covered.

I do believe with another losing season, someone will be on the hot seat. Losing a job outright? I don't know. I don't make any decisions for the Green Bay Packers.

For the record, I LOVED this draft and even more, loved the Coaching changes and the switch to 3-4.

But let's take a quick look at our records in the 00s:

2000: 9-7
2001: 13-5
2002: 12:5
2003: 11-7
2004: 10-7
2005: 4-12
2006: 8-8
2007: 14-4
2008: 6-10

Like it or not, nobody likes to lose and when teams lose, jobs are lost. That's just how it goes.

If 2009 sees the Packers winning the NFC North, TT's and MM's jobs are safe for the next few years at least, especially if we win a round or two of the Playoffs. If 2009 sees the Packers with a 6-10 record, don't be surprised if someone has to scramble putting together a resume.

I don't know the future, but from a historical perspective, when a team looks like it's declining, jobs are lost.

It all comes down to that, pure and simple. It;s hard to use the "Rebuilding" thing i year 4. If the Packers fail to reach the playoffs I have to believe BOT Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson are on the hotseat

I'm down with the first three years of Mike and Ted together was rebuilding. Fine. But if we don't have a solid core roster by now, we're in a helluva shit hole.

We need to win a playoff game, at least one. Or it might be time to find a new staff.

Agreed.

In this age of free agents they should not be rebuilding for 5 years.
Older, high priced FAs may not be Teddy's MO but if that is what it takes then he needs to change his mindset a bit.
The better quality FAs may not want to come to GB but if you overpay for a few key players, the rest will come too. All we have to do is look at Reggie as an example. If Wolfe did not pay him what he did, I doubt White would have come to GB. After he came it was easy to get the other players they needed to win the SB. That team was not built exclusively thru the draft.

Basically what you're saying is that two straight years without a playoff win = grounds for firing.

1 playoff appearence in 5 years is what it would be.

Not only that but if we really tank it this year like 6-10 you will be in year 5 with a questionable roster. You need to build up to the big finale. Going backwards from a NFC Championship game when you have a different QB leads one to believe you are declining.
