I do believe with another losing season, someone will be on the hot seat. Losing a job outright? I don't know. I don't make any decisions for the Green Bay Packers.
For the record, I LOVED this draft and even more, loved the Coaching changes and the switch to 3-4.
But let's take a quick look at our records in the 00s:
2000: 9-7
2001: 13-5
2002: 12:5
2003: 11-7
2004: 10-7
2005: 4-12
2006: 8-8
2007: 14-4
2008: 6-10
Like it or not, nobody likes to lose and when teams lose, jobs are lost. That's just how it goes.
If 2009 sees the Packers winning the NFC North, Ted Thompson's and Mike McCarthy's jobs are safe for the next few years at least, especially if we win a round or two of the Playoffs. If 2009 sees the Packers with a 6-10 record, don't be surprised if someone has to scramble putting together a resume.
I don't know the future, but from a historical perspective, when a team looks like it's declining, jobs are lost.
